I had no idea the Dominion Peace Treaty was actually written out! I thought the Jem'Hadar base from "Once More Unto the Breach" looked great on screen but didn't realize it was an actual physical model. The colors on the Jem'Hadar fighter also calls into question the rationale behind the Eaglemoss paint scheme on its version of the bug.
Thanks for sharing djc242 !! Great auction... My personal idea as to why the paint scheme on the Eaglemoss Jem H'adar Fighter is so different from the studio model is just one thing.... Lighting!!
I see so many arguments on the modeling boards of the actual color of iconic ships... The ultimate fact is that the filming models do not appear the same often on film as they do in reality... Often the production company even paints the models a certain way knowing they will appear different on screen.
So I think Eaglemoss decided to paint the fighter more similarly to the way the audience percieves it vs its actual colors.
Yeah that's the reason djc, and to elaborate further still, the models are painted that way (insanely vibrant) because the colours are toned down on film. A great example of this can be seen in the making-of featurette for Generations. The Saucer crash landscape is literally painted fluorescent green (think almost lime green), yet on film it looks absolutely natural. In fact, I just found it!
15 minutes and 10 seconds is the point to skip to.
One ship I will say where Eaglemoss definitely went too far in trying to tone down the vibrancy, was the Galor class. Way too dark is that one, came out brown instead of yellow. Glad they fixed it for the Hideki.
Getting back to the auction, the peace treaty is amazing! Having a quick browse through, and saw this:
This was a design by Jim Martin (Defiant) which was a candidate for Voyager. In my opinion, it's obviously an update to (modern version of) the Oberth class, and I love it. Always had a soft spot for that ship.
As much as I love the Oberth Class.... Thank god Voyager turned out to be the ship we all know and love!! I have seen some other odd choices as candidates for Voyager as well.... None of them fit the bill as a "Hero" ship.
Oh definitely, Voyager's gorgeous. Even that test model they made for Voyager (nacelles hanging down) didn't look right in the slightest. Star Trek's always struck gold with the ship designs though.
So THAT'S where the USS Buran was. I've been looking at that scene for years -- could barely make heads or tails of it. I always thought that was an Excelsior class with the nacelles missing. All that work, and you could barely see anything in the episode itself.
Is the auction entirely over? What is this "0 bids" and "sold," how did that happen?
