Does anyone remember that big 1701-D playset prototype? Anybody save any photographs of it?

The funny thing is, i remember seeing it on ebay when I was just starting to collect the Playmates guys. I think it sold at that time for something like 600 bucks?

Sounds like something Bad Bunny Mike can help with. Pictures of that playset that should have been! I wish DST could get those molds and go retro with that set!

I find myself still carrying these things around in my pocket... I guess that explains my love for 3 3/4" scale and cargo pants! Couldn't very well go around with DST's 7" figures in pockets. People either think you were crazy, had a concealed weapon or you were happy to see them! LOL

I have been racking my brain for months trying to remember where a picture of this playset is. Turns out that its pictured on the back of the Galoob aliens packaging, along with about all of the other items that Galoob put out in the Star Trek line, and a few that never came out, like the 3 diorama sets-Enterprise bridge, Transporter room and Alien planet. I heard way back in the day that there would be a Sick bay put out as well.

do you have a picture of the back of that card? I would love to see it close up, if possible?

wow that's awesome! Thanks for the link!
I've never seen those pictures before, I'm sitting here trying to fight the tears! sad.gif

But, i'm a little confused, did they have two different bridges they were planning?
It looks like they have two pictured side by side but look a little different.

One of the bridges was a playset made similar to the TNG bridge that playmates made, and the other one was a cheaper cardboard type of a Diorama set, as were the alien planet and the Transporter room. I believe there was a Sick bay planned as well. I remember seeing these pictures in something i received in the mail back in the 80's and i couldnt wait to get them, i was majorly bummed when Galoob bailed.

I just wish I would have saved the pictures. They where great and showed how they all went together to make a huge enterprise D. I don't know if my memory is bad, but I could have swore I saw a commercial of the bridge playset for the galoob line when I was younger, cause I was just waiting for it to come out.
