Yeah, but even if Rick manages to get it down to $2000....you know that beast is going to cost a few hundred on top of that just to ship. I got a shipping estimate list from my comic shop. Here's the breakdown on some major cities:

Location Freight Estimates
Boston, MA02129 $404.95
Chicago, IL60601 $295.27
Miami, FL33014 $316.71
Los Angeles, CA90012 $604.94
Seattle, WA98104 $626.63
Denver, CO80031 $424.05
Dallas, TX75226 $178.57
New York, NY10001 $610.28

So the absolute cheapest on there is TX at $178...and the most expensive is WA at $626! So no matter where you get this from you should probably still expect to pay no less than $2200 (and that's if you live in TX and Rick manages to get it down to $2000).

That's really insane. I wonder who is going to willing to plunk that down sight unseen?

Yeah I was thinking the SAME thing on the shipping costs...I knew it would be a pain to have it shipped.

Maybe they'll just ship them from the DST Warehouse and all the retailers will sell them through there....that saves a TON on shipping.

You know that is is Rick even orders them. Because I have a feeling he isn't gonna sell too many of them.

Rick is going to have a few for sure. I asked him on the phone awhile back. It's the only way I'm going to get one. sad.gif

3 years ago I sold a motorcycle on Ebay and shipped it for those prices. This thing is only 140 pounds. I would say go to USPS and check shipping, but I think that 70 pounds is their limit. I guess that this could ship in 2 boxes? UPS, those charges above sound about right. I checked DHL and I quoted as sending it to zip code 90210 (the only one I could remember) from Indiana, and it was $140.00

Here's some more clarification on shipping and weight:

Limited to 1,701 pieces worldwide, the chair can ship directly to your customer in three shipping boxes on one pallet with the overall dimensions of approximately 48

Your seller would have to order it and rather then have it shipped to them, shipped to you. I bought a TV like that once.

So that makes it pretty much impossible to get that shipping down. Diamond is going to ship with whatever company they have an agreement with.

hello all...
we will be $1999 with a possibility of dropping price to $1799 if we meet a MOQ (minimum order quantity ).... obviously it is motivation for us to sell a lot of them, and DST will drop our price after X quantity...
since I have no way to know if we can sell X, we will start the presell at $1999 (a 20% deposit is required at time of ordering), and if we meet our quota, I will manually adjust the price down $100 to 1899! and if we meet our second tier, will drop another $100 to $1799
as for shipping, we will give DST the info, and it will go right from the DST Warehouse to your door, based on the estimated shipping costs provided (and quoted above)...
should have on our site by tomorrow

My problem is I live in an Apt.

Regardless if I can afford it it doesn't logistically make any sense for me to purchase something like this.

Now, if I had my own place that I knew I'd be living in for years and years, I'd try and make it happen.

But I don't and that is that!

It'll move around like any other piece of furniture. You might need a few friends to help out, but its still movable.

I sure hope anyone who gets one provides pics for us to gawk at. Perhaps even a small review? I have nowhere to put one, and more importantly, no money to buy it anyway... but still, I'd like to see pics and reviews from owners....
