He is the only figure ever made from Trek book and was never seen on screen. I do not have an open one but if you look at this you can see one at

What size is he? Is he 4.5 or 6 inches?

here is an ok pic, if I can dig him out I will get you a real one, I might even have a spare...

He is a 4.5 figure, They either repainted the Voyager figures, or used this later for the FC ones. I think the former, as I type this.

Yeah...he is a repainted Chakotay. The shoulder embroidery lines are not sculpted, like the target exclusives, but painted on.

Still pretty good for a once off exclusive though.

I remember getting this guy many years ago. I have never actually read the New Frontier books, but the action figure was unique, to say the least.

I read the first book and thought it was pretty cool, but it seemed the authors were trying to make him a little too tough.

After I got the Target FC figures, I picked up Calhoun for the navigation console. There were very few FC uniforms in the 4.5 line.

Thats not a bad idea.

I wasn't interested in him either...but I wouldn't mind another grey uniform to display on the Bridge.

Well, I liked the figure myself. Yes, he was a simple repaint of the Chakotay body, but the head was a completely new sculpt and the sword that he came with was a unique accessory limited only to the Calhoun figure. And it's pretty historic that it was and probably shall remain the only Trek toy to come from a novel and not an onscreen appearance (granted I'd still like to see a Lt's. M'Ress and Arex one day rolleyes.gif )

For the price he goes for now? Yeah, I'd say go ahead and get one....or more. LOL You never know when you might need some fodder for customizing Playmates figures. wink.gif

Peter David is the only official author of the New Frontier series. There has been an omnibus of stories set in the New Frontier "universe" (meaning using NF characters), but that's been the only exception.

You know, I thought the same exact thing. Eventually, I grew to hate the series partly becuase of Calhoun. Its still a cool looking figue, though.

Don't. Peter David is one of the worst Star Trek authors. He screws around with the Star Trek universe. And he isn't a very good author in the first place.

I remeber seeing the figure for sale in a Star Trek Communicator magazine. That was about eight or nine years ago.

He's not all THAT bad. Granted some of his novels vary from outstanding to dreadful, but I really like New Frontier. Especially the first 6 or so.

I guess the first four or five are okay, but it gets the worst in the later books.

^A few after that have been hit or miss, but it's still an interesting series. But let's not derail this thread further.

Figure is worth getting at the price it's at now. AKA Dirt cheap! lol

If you want to get crazy a better thing to do would to complete a headswap between calhoun and maybe an Nem Data/Picard to give him the proper grey uniform. I didnt like how they just repainted a Voyager style.
