Hey guys.... Commodore Kor'Tar's great work inspired me to build a model.... and not just ANY model...but a model of the meanest little ship that ever was !!! That's right ....Captain Sisko's USS Defiant NX-74205. This wont be an out of box build either.... I will be customizing the kit to look more like the filming model. My kit cost me 60.00 bucks off Ebay...but from what Ive seen...I got a great deal !!! I went and bought all the supplies I will need ( including a special airbrush accessory) All in all Im about 120.00 in so far.... but I plan to make this shine !!!

I even custom blended my paints for the airbrush to match the original....I think Im darn close!!!

The model is on her way from Florida via Priority mail to here in Michigan...so I should have her by Tuesday!!! I'm posting some picks of the filming reference photos Im using.

Oh ..Im not lighting this.... It would run me way too much !

Okay...I have been working a few days on the kit...... It really is a poorly designed model....but it has potential..... So here are some shots of what I have so far...

I had to completely modify the Deflector Housing to make it longer and more accurate...this was pretty difficult....but she's starting to look like the tough little ship we love !

I'd love if you would explain exactly what you did? Do you have progress photos?

I should have taken some shots of the model before I changed it.... I added about 1/2" of styrene sheet to the "nose" or Deflector Housing....I also used Aves Putty to thicken the inaccurate walls around the bussards. Here is a photo of the model where you can see the white plastic I added..... I actually cut the plastic and shaped it to extend the length of the housing.

Here are some shots of someone elses unchanged model...you can see how the nose look stubby....

I actually have an unpainted assembled straight-out-of-the-box AMT Defiant here in my room, I can see now all the work you've put in. Goddamn, by that last photo, she's a different model! GORGEOUS with the scribe lines. How have you done those?

On the final season of DS9 they did some close up shots of the defiant showing she had aztec.... So I added the slight appearance of aztec to the hull.....

Let me know what you guys think so far?? Should I tone down the aztec???

Looking good. Though the cream colored panels the aztecing or weathering seems a bit heavy for my taste. Other than that It looks awesome.

Thanks Kor'Tar...Yeah I was thinking the panel outlines are too dark also on the deflector...I can fix that. Im just waiting on the bridge replacement piece and the upgraded decals now.

Thanks Destructor....

The decals and Bridge should be here tomorrow !!! I tinkered a bit more.... I made some mode mods.... I changed the little phaser "sticks" on the model to more screen accurate Phaser Pulse Cannons..... I also added the phaser strips seen on the side of the nacelle housing on the filming model.

That looks great. I did one last year. Now I want to pull it down and do some tinkering of my own.
