So thehsbr's DS9 alien poll got me thinking about this. I love DS9 - as much as I like all of Star Trek and really like certain episodes of each series, DS9 is the series that I can look at as a whole and appreciate more than any other. And I think this is what made DS9 unique... it really was a 176 hour drama, not just a collection of individual stories. Sure the other series grew and progressed, but I don't think to quite the degree that DS9 showcased. And I think part of that was because of the massive scale that everything happened on, and the number of characters that we were able t follow over 7 years.

And therein lies the problem. Sure, you've got your "main" credited cast whose names appear during the opening of each episode. But beyond that think of how vital the "supporting" characters became as the series progressed and made its way to conclusion. Now thinking about DST and the DS9 figures, how do we possibly make a "wish list" of figures that doesn't dwarf the same list for other lines?

Take a look at the TNG line... here's the "guest" characters we got/will get:
- Barclay
- O'Brien
- Ogawa
- Ro
- Q
- Lore
- Locutus (sure it's technically still Picard, but Locutus is a whole separate character)

Now take a look at DS9 and the huge number of characters who had parts just as large as those whose names were in the opening credits:
- Gul Dukat
- Elim Garak
- Nog
- Kai Winn
- Weyoun
- Female Changeling
- Martok
- Gowron
- Morn
- Rom
- Admiral Ross

I know I may be biased, but I just don't think the DS9 line would be complete without those characters. Of course you're still missing out a bunch of other important characters like Eddington, Leeta, Grand Nagus Zek, Damar, Zyal...

Thoughts?

Well, TNG is far from complete in my mind, too. Yar, Guinan, and Pulaski are the most obvious omissions, but there are several other recurring characters such as Lwaxana Troi, Keiko O'Brien, Alexander, Hugh, K'Ehleyr, Gowron, Lursa and B'Etor, Sela, Jack Crusher, Noonien Soong, and even Sarek who weren't made. Granted, they didn't appear anywhere near as often as some of the DS9 recurring characters, but they had just as much impact on the series and its mythology. Since we're not in the Playmates era any longer, I think the most important thing is to get the core crew released and then the top four or five guest characters, possibly more if headswaps are possible.

If I were DST, I would prioritize those characters who were station crewmembers and were around for the longest. That means Rom, Nog, and Garak are all givens. Dukat doesn't fit into that category, but like Locutus he was a very important villain and merits a figure. Anything else, like TNG wave 5, is just a bonus, but I'm afraid that since reusing bodies won't be as simple for DS9 we might not get much in the way of villains and non-Starfleet characters. Then again, DST did do new sculpts for all the AGT characters so anything's possible... and there's also hope that when and if Voyager is completed we'll start to get random characters from all series.

Yeah, thats when I'd imagine we will start seeing a lot of those characters who were important, but not enough to warrant an all new mold at the time of their respective series release (Guinan & Chapel for example). I just hope DST sticks with the license for the long run....I hope they are able to stick with it. sad.gif

I'd imagine, if DST do sculpt a body for a non main in DS9, it will be a Cardassian soldier body for Dukat, Damar & perhaps a Mirror Garek exclusive.

BUT...if we'd like to dream for a minute (& I know this pisses people off, but anywho!!) here's who I'd like to see over the years:

1. Dukat
2. Kai Winn
3. Keiko
4. Garek
5. Leeta
6. Kasidy
7. Female changling
8. Damar
9. Weyoun
10. Jennifer Sisko
11. Joseph Sisko
12. Martok
13. Gowron
14. Ziyal
15. Grand Negus
16. Moogie (Ishka)
17. Brunt
18. Grilka
19. Admiral Ross
20. Vedek Bariel
21. Kai Opaka
22. The Doctors friends (Lauren, Jack, Patrick & Sarina)
23. Vic Fontaine
24. Enabran Tain
25. Ambassador Lwaxana Troi
26. Admiral Alynna Nechayav
27. Arandis (Vanessa Williams)
28. Molly O'Brien (young & old)
29. Michael Eddington
30. Shakaar
31. Alexander
32. Vash

That'll keep them busy laugh.gif

Hey all,

I would say the eaiser ones for AA/DST to make would be the uniformed characters. Of course there were not that many in DS9. In fact off the top of my I can only think of Admiral Ross and Eddington. Not sure if Eddington would be made yet though due to the fact that his uniform is the earlier DS9 one, not the Nemesis type.

Of course they may surprise us and give us an EMH / Dr Zimmerman in Nemesis type uniforms.

Take care,

I think EMH/Zimmerman is highly likely, with only slightly lower probabilities for Eddington. We've already seen prototypes of "Season 3" DS9 characters in the Voyager uniforms, as well as many shots of the Season 7 DS9 wave. Between S7 DS9 and TNG Nemesis characters, there are plenty of FC uniform bodies available, so I'm sure one of them will work fine for Zimmerman. Since they presumably need to make a Picardo head for the Voyager line anyway, I think you'll see Zimmerman in the final DS9 wave, and Doc in the second VOY wave... a character which by that time could be a complete re-use of a S3 DS9 body and the Zimmerman head. Eddington would then boil down to requiring a new head sculpt, like Ogawa and Ro did for TNG.

I think that DS9's secondary characters were far more important to the show that the others, which makes sense since they were on a space station. I think those that should be given a priority are the characters that feature heavily in the Dominion storyline. With that in mind the key secondary characters in my view are:

Dukat
Damar
Garek
Martok
Weyoun
Nog
Admiral Ross
Female Shapehifter

You could also argue that Kai Winn should be there too. With this series its a great oppotunity to add more alien characters into the mix. They can make for great figures, especially the Klingons and Cardassians. DST just needs to find a way to get a Jem'Hadar into the series.

I keep thinking of Rom & Nog as a 'given'...

But I guess they are not really. Especially considering new molds are needed for them & they were never in the opening credits. sad.gif

Aw, well...the main cast themselves will be awesome.

I would think that people in alien uniforms might have a good shot at being made. A generic Ferengi mold could be made and support a number of figures like Quark, Rom, Zek, Brunt and all be done as head swaps. A Cardassian uniform could also be made utilizing Dukat and Mirror Garak. The Klingon uniform is already pretty much there with SOE Worf/Mirror Worf. New heads just need to be made for a variety of klingons. If they wanted to get fancy they could also design a piece that hangs over the soldiers to produce a Gowron figure. I could also very easily see next years SDCC exclusive being an Apocalypse Rising set with Sisko, Obrien, Odo and a Martok/Gowron exclusive. Im not sure how good scale would be but at this point im willing to buy figures that might be a little off scale to add to the collection. I would be shocked if we didnt get a few Klingons down the road given the molds are there already.

And also considering the popularity of the race.
I think I said in a thread a few months ago...the more Klingons the better:

1. Gowron
2. Martok
3. Grilka
4. Lursa
5. B'Etor
6. Kurn
7. Alexander
8. Sisko
9. O'Brien
10. Odo
11. Blood Oath Kang
12. Blood Oath Koloth
13. Blood Oath Kor

Branching out a little:

14. Killing Game Janeway
15. Torres full Klingon
16. Killing Game Neelix
17. K'Ehleyr

Certainly Klingons are a given. You can be sure that they'll at least make the two highest profile Klingons (aside from Worf): Gowron and Martok. Those two I'm counting on. Others are just bonuses.

There are such a number of cool and important alien characters such as the ones already listed in the thread it will take a while for them to be made if they are made at all. It will depend heavily on the sales of the main crew.

The minimum I expect are: Dukat, Garek, Martok, Weyoun, Damar, Nog and possibly Rom.

It's tricky to judge becasue so many of the secondary characters appeared so often. Will DST decide on which to do according to how often they appeared in series as a whole or only in Season 7? We'll just have to wait and see.

I think that just about covers it.

-Tasha Yar in 3rd season uniform from "Yesterday's Enterprise"
-Tasha from "The Naked Now"

"Cheerleader" Troi with her bridge chair

Captain Edward Jellico with ready room desk
Picard and Gul Madred, including desk, chair, and of course "4 lights!"

These should have been included in the Geordi/Data wave:
Lal
Dr. Soong
Hugh
Leah Brahms

I think they should just do the whole wave over again, with better quality this time, and include the afore mentioned characters.

Man, I'm going crazy with this stuff.

And the list is getting bigger!!! blink.gif laugh.gif

I wouldn't have thought of Sarah Sisko or Benny Russell?? IIRC (first time I've used that!) Benny was the chef working for Joe Sisko?

I'm wondering if Joe Sisko or maybe the old Jake Sisko could be made relatively easy with the use of AGT Geordi or Data's body...with longer legs?

I'd say we'll have a good chance at Leeta, Keiko, Kasidy & Jennifer after Voyager is made. The arms & legs of Seven could be re-used quite a bit. Perhaps for the Intendant as well which would be nice.

Ofcourse, we may not see any of those people besides Keiko & Leeta who I gather would have to show up one day....but I would love a Joe.

Benny Russell was the science fiction writer that was Sisko's alter ego in his 1950's visions.

DS9 could turn into the "Star Wars" line for DST...there are so many characters that deserve to be made. But I think it's still a numbers game...if the core cast sells, then we'll see what happens. But if I had to go with a list, this would be mine (in no particular order)

1. Dukat
2. Kai Winn
3. Keiko
4. Garek
5. Leeta
6. Kasidy
7. Female changling
8. Damar
9. Weyoun
10. Nog (there are several variants, but I mainly want the full ensign uniform)
11. Martok
12. Gowron
13. Ziyal
14. Grand Negus Zek
15. Moogie (Ishka)
16. Brunt
17. Admiral Ross
18. Vedek Bariel
19. Kai Opaka
20. Vic Fontaine
21 Michael Eddington
22. Breen figure
23. Jem'Hadar
24. and of course: MORN!
