Let's get cracken with the Bondo! With this Masonite covering, the areas to fill are greatly reduced.

Let's see. I've been at this for about a 5 weeks now. 1 to 2 hour(s) a night Monday thru Friday, 7 hours each weekend.

Bondo Bondo Bondo
Sand Sand Sand

My friend Roy is coming by this weekend to help me build the seat, so since I am taking Saturday off, first one in 6 months, I hope to make some real forward motion.

I hope bondo doesnt give off any fumes because you might be flyin higher than the Enterprise! I cant wait to see the seat! Will you be adding voice phrases, lights and sounds? You could just take one of the mini toy chairs and rig up a system to amplify the sounds LOL...

Really looks great and you are devoting some serious time to it!

After my fundraiser is over I plan to back up and make the card reader work, add sounds, blinking lights, ect.. Sound from the dst chair is an idea I had as well, I would have to amp it up, but that might not be that hard to do.

It really is progressing quite awesomely, can't wait to see it done! Just be sure to also make a squeak-toy tribble, so when someone goes to sit in it you can toss the tribble under'em. wink.gif

That is coming along quite nicely. It looks as if it i starting to take shape, especially with the back rest framed out. I have always found that this stage in building provides a nice little pick me up, actually seeing what your ultimate goal is coming that much closer...

keep up the great work...

I would love to see pics of the helm also. And how much are you going to charge for these compared to DST? LOL Regarding the sound effects, a few years ago, they released a CD of sound effects from the original series. Perhaps there is some way you could incorporate that into the chair? An inexpensive Cd player could be installed in it maybe? Love watching the progress reports!

Yes at some point I will add some sounds, not at the moment though as I need to make sure that this is done by May7th.

LOL I doubt that I would build one for someone else. To much labor and not enough time. Maybe if I had a professional grade, table saw, band saw, ect... to work with, and a warmer garage as that the glues, bondo , ect... would dry faster, I could greatly reduce the build time. Most people would probably be happier with the DST one. Mine would resemble the real one in terms of being hand built with some minor flaws here and there and the DST one would be more slick production line "idealized" chair.

I do have that CD.

The helm can be seen here http://www.trektoy.c...?showtopic=1792

Nice work. I read earlier that you could send the pdf plans. If I could get a copy I would appreciate it. Thanks.
