I just saw the movie and yes, Archer was mentioned by Scotty, who apparently had used Archers beagle in a transporter experiment that didnt go the way he had planned and so thats why Scotty got assigned to the delta vaga planet station.

Hey all,

Yes, that's the one. Am going to have to go again though to make sure I didn't miss anything myself.

Take care,

CANON.. this is my take on what is going on. the trek TOS time line has not changed. why you ask, simple The Department of Temporal Investigations. as seen on ENT,DS9 and Voyager when some one does something to the time line Temporal Investigations goes back to set the events right, (putting thing back in order) so yes things have changed but it is the job of Temporal Investigations to make it like it never did. so as far as Ent time line. we see some of the time line getting fixed but one has to assume that TI would send some one back to fix the rest. and the same would hold true for the trek vers. so in my OP we only have one time line. TOS.

Well in the expanded universe such as STO, there is some truth to that because they acknowledge the evnts of Trek 09 like the Narada and Jellyfish going through an anomaly. However, time keeps moving forward without interruption for the prime universe but the events in the prequel comics still influence the galaxy.

I kind of see it as a new timeline.
The Prime universe still happens as it always did.
The new movie universe is an alternate universe almost like the Mirror Universe. They all exist in their own little pockets of space time.
Prime and new just a have a shared history up to the point of the Narada crossing over. Then they split.

Atleast Jw326 gets it, I dont how many times I have explained it to people and they were still like but now tng and the like are not canon now boycott jj abrams!!! Its an alternate timeline is all they even clearly say it in the movie! I'm hoping maybe T'pol makes an appearance in the 2nd film to help on new Vulcan, unless of course she was on Vulcan when it was destroyed. I was glad to hear Archer mentioned in the movie as Im one of those crazy radicals that actually liked Enterprise.

*notes several others seem to get in this thread as well lol*

I really don't understand the fans who say that Abrams destroyed the Star Trek universe. For a seemingly intelligent fanbase, this has always puzzled me.

The facts are simple. Respecting what had come before, JJ Abrams created a NEW and ALTERNATE universe. This essentially gives whoever has the Star Trek key's after Abrams, the freedom to go back and visit the PRIME universe. Canon has not been destroyed, nor replaced. A new universe has been formed - a theory many scientists have is that there are indeed parallel universes running concurrently along with our own.

Does this make Enterprise the only canon show? HELL NO, anyone who thinks differently needs to concentrate more...

TOS, TNG, DS9 and Voyager are all still there, the timeline of Roddenberry and Berman is still playing out - it's just that the film crews aren't there to film it all. Will another producer go back and explore the original timeline - perhaps, will Abrams bring his Star Trek full circle and have the timelines meet? Who knows. Whats for certain is that no matter what, the timeline we've known up until 2009 is still continuing, waiting for someone to return to it, if it makes finical sense to do so.

Well the initial arguemnt was that ENT is the only set of events that are most likely still valid within the new Trek universe. Im not quite sure what others are arguing about here.
