I read that they ran out of time or something, thus why the announcements have been postponed to August 5th on the main website.

I still don't get why CBS haven't agreed for DST to take on the license for the new movies and for Star Trek: Discovery.

The one big problem with DSTs current license is that it's old! The license they have is for shows that are decades old. The newest being canceled 11 years ago.

That isn't an issue for us here at trek toy but for the bean counters at DST, trying to sell product for shows, no matter how popular they still remain, that are over 11 years old and older still, is an issue that will result in the line just drying up.

We've already seen their action figure line go from fully articulated waves of figures to one non articulated action figure per year. Their ship line will eventually come to a close as they run out of fees able ships to produce.

By giving DST the licence to produce Kelvin Timeline product as well as Star Trek: Discovery product, you're breathing new life into their line of toys and whilst we're not going to see a massive explosion of product. It might just be that we start seeing more figures with a full compliment of articulation and more resources put into their fleet yards.

Plus it would give their line more exposure. Exposure that it really does need.

as long as I get my pre built electronic starship toy from someone, DST or otherwise I don't care. As long as it's well made and looks good on display.

I've been a DST apologist from my first posts on this forum, but that was pretty much entirely motivated by the fact that nobody else seemed to want to make electronic starships in this size bracket. Those who did (Playmates) couldn't hit the same quality mark and failed to stick it out. (TBH, while I'm curious what Playmates' Kelvin and Narada might have looked like, I can't imagine them being good!)

If someone else can take a crack at electronic starships and do it well, then I'll be cheering for them, but until then, I'll continue to hope that DST can get their marketing and manufacturing acts together, because they make incredible products when everything goes to plan.

I am pretty hard on DST about Star Trek and I believe with good reason but their Ghostbusters figures are top notch and miles above anything Mattel did. I also just picked up the select X Files and they are pretty great.

My Marshmallow Ray (first GB figure, the rest are still in my pile of loot at BBTS) came the other day.  I didn't open him yet, but I *did* open Mulder and Scully which I begrudgingly decided to pick up.  I think their sculpts are pretty nice, and the Ray looks decent (though a little off, but so did the Mattel, and moreso, and yet, both still enough like Ray that it's easy to get over).

However, upon opening the X-Files figures I was reminded of what I had forgotten we already kind of knew.  DST's figures look great in packaging, then you take them out, and, well... they won't stand up on their own (either at all, or in any but one pose...at least they finally started giving us cheap stands), paint begins flaking off of *their* hands into *your* hands almost immediately after swapping them out, and the joints all feel seized up until you move them and then are suddenly too loose already.  Then you also notice the cheap stickers on the accessories already starting to curl up.

And good gravy, how I had forgotten how much I hate their hundreds of twisty-ties-of-steel.

Anyway, they look great in-package, and they are still serviceable out, and I'm glad the non-select versions are priced around $15 instead of $20.  I do wish they could figure out a way to use less packaging, is it really necessary for their blister to be so gigantic (clearly playing to their looks-great-in-package strength)...but since I open almost all my figures these days I shouldn't complain about that.  And I couldn't help but notice the poor coordination between their graphic designers and whomever else is involved in packaging when I noticed that the most important point of the front face of the card back, Mulder and Scully down at the bottom, was completely obscured by the figures/stands in the blister.

I really really want one, but the cost man.... I also wish the battery life was longer than 7-9 minutes.

I also don't get why they didn't do just the 1701 instead of the A. Wonder if the product designer wasn't a big Trek fan.

Every Target I've been to has had the Enterprise, and every time I see it I have to tell myself no.

At the couple I've been to, it's been by the movies. Usually close to the new releases.

Qmx is just way out of my price range... Would never spend that much on their stuff... but it does look great!
