I kind of want the bridge to display my TNG figures in I didn't get one in the original run but thought I would get one off Ebay the cheapest I could find was $40 with $15 shipping. Is it worth it?

This was a cool playset for its time with cool sound effects. I was really hoping that Playmates would have done something similar for the new movie's brige playset , but alas we ended up with a playmat. Who knows maybe they'll do a solid set for the sequel! The price range you mentioned seems resonable.

That's less than it cost when it first came out. I loved it as a kid. It's actually quite fun and well worth the money, I think. If it came out today it'd probably cost at least $75.

These TNG bridges cost around $50 MIB back in the 90's when it originally released.

I think that's how much I paid too. Keep in mind it's very much a toy version of the Bridge and not an accurate depiction of the set or anything. I mean, it's got all the main stuff there but it's kind of stylized. It's also quite large. I'm not sure it's the best display unit ever unless you take some of the walls out (which is VERY easy to do) as it's so big. However, if you have large shelves or just plan to have it on the floor it should be fine.

I wrote this to Playmates:

Just writing to say congratulations on doing an outstanding job on the new Star Trek line! I have a question about the chances of Playmates doing an electronic bridge playset when the sequel for the new movie comes out? I think fans would support this set if it had all the bells and whistles, LEDs for the lights and voices of the characters would be great too. Something along the lines of Hasbro's BMF Millenium Falcon in the Star Wars line. Thank you for your time. Here's to hoping that ya'll will get the license for the other Trek shows and give us some Next Generation characters and playsets!

and they responded with this:

You never know, stay tuned.

Kind of a little opptimistic the stay tuned bit! No I'm not hoping DST looses the Star Trek license ,but it would be cool if Playmates brought us the other shows in 3 3/4". biggrin.gif

I don't realy need to rebuy figures just for an inch of hight difference. I mean with DST it's a different story.

I have one opened and displayed with my figures, sorry no pics right now though. I have a piece of plexiglass cut to fit the top of the bridge so that you can look in but it protects the bridge from collecting dust. Its really neat. I have the Engineering playset sitting beside it and the TNG Transporter closeby.

It's worth it. It's the best Trek toy from the original PM run.

I don't see the alcoves for the ready room, or the observation lounge.

That because the Playmates bridge was made without the alcoves . The turbolift, and observation lounge doors slide open and closed by way of the slide switch at the top of them . The Ready Room and Emergency Battle Bridge lift doors are simply molded to look like doors but do not open .

The walls where the "storage lockers" are located are on a hinge at the bottom and fold down to make easy access for play or picture taking .

It has 8 sound fx on the top row of 3 buttons it has , Red Alert, Hailing, and computer button pressing sounds

on the bottom row it has Phasers , Photons , Tractor beams and Warp sounds

All in all , it is a pretty fun playset !
