The first figure to see is a 6" version of Kirk holding the new phaser and wearing what appears to be a Starfleet-issue wool-knit sweater. tongue.gif

Hmm... if it were the 3 3/4" line I'd be happy. But if that's the look of their 6", I'm definately going to pass (at least until they hit the bargain bin wink.gif ).

I am not to sure about the heavy textures of the sweater and I dont care for the low knee articulation. How hard is it to put knees in the right place? I hope the 3 3'4" figures look better.

That is a disappointment. It isn't a bad likeness just a terrible figure. I sincerely hope that when these are scaled down to the small scale they look better because that's an embarrassment to Trek and toy making.

Very disappointing. These look like a major step back from the figures they did in the 90's!

I guess that is how they interpreted the textured look of the new uniforms. Obviously not a good job, but I've never liked Playmates' work so I can't say I'm surprised it doesn't look good. Even though they've added more articulation than they had in the 1990's, it seems sculpting is still something Playmates has yet to master.

I really don't have the room (or finances) for these figures, so I don't want to like them. So far, so good. wink.gif

That being said, I may track down a "Prime Spock" if he looks good. I think he'd fit in nicely with my Playmates/AA collection.

I'm not that enthralled either. I hope we see more photos soon so I can make a decision on these. Right now I have an outrageous amount of product ordered, but I might reconsider if something doesn't come up looking better.

I dunno if I can justify spending money on it just cause its Trek.

At a first glance, I liked the figure overall, but I do think I would like it better if they toned down the texture in the shirt. I don't see these as being Indiana Jones bad. I think I will probably give them a shot. I wish they would have released a picture of the Quinto Spock too, so we could see if the blue shirt blends better with the texturing. I notice in a lot of the movie stills that the texturing almost seems to dissapear on the blue or red shirts. Maybe the same can be said with the figures. Maybe Kirk knows the Weasley's from Harry Potter, his hair does kind of seem a little red! biggrin.gif

One thing to remember is that New Force is selling the complete (3?) wave sets where the stores will be selling the sets one wave at a time. If the first waves bomb they may not carry the rest of the waves and these last ones might get a bit on the rare side. If that happens, I'll be glad that I went ahead and ordered them all at once. Even the very idea if not having to go back time and time again to chase any of them makes it worth it to me even if the preceding wasn't true.

Maybe Kirk didn't like the yellow sweater and thats why in half of the movie he's Goth Kirk, all in black! biggrin.gif
