That looks pretty nice and would be a great addition to my collection but... That is way to pricey. I wouldn't spend that much on it.

YOUCH!! Too rich for my blood too. Quick question for the prop guys/gals, how much did it cost for you to make one of these yourself?

Well, the kit runs $349.99, electronics are $199.99, and the "sling" is $79.99, so the raw parts are about $630. Plus paint, shipping, etc, etc.

That is pretty pricey, and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa*breathes*aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of my league.

However, it does seem like a fair deal for all of the features you get, plus a custom stand.

as cool as it looks..... nah. At the end of the day, I couldn't even bring myself to spend $350 on a tricorder. Buying that is a non-starter.

Oh My God. That is the trek item I have always wanted. Too bad I'll have to win the lottery to get it.

A friend bought a resin, screen-used rifle during the IAW Trek auctions for about $1700. I bought a rubber screen-used stunt for $850. I think this is an absurdly-priced replica. At that price, they won't be selling many.

Keep in mind, these have electronics and are built by HMS, the same company that made them for the movie. If it's an accurate prop you want, then this is as good as it gets.

Exactly. So they didn't have to tool up or reinvent the wheel.

And I'm guessing their production probably isn't exactly like an assembly line. If it's anything like the processes we've seen you post, Mark, then I can only imagine it gets even more difficult than that when putting in so many electronic features. So yeah, I'd definitely say that the price is pretty decent considering the amount of labor most likely involved.

Yup, these are hand finished, one at a time from parts made from hand poured resin from hand crafted molds. Not done on an assembly line and not done by any automated means. You're paying for craftsmanship as well as accuracy and quality.
