Yeah it does look pretty good, thanks for the HQ image. I'm happy to see it's run on coin cell batteries (LR44's) like the TOS phaser. The less space the batteries take up the better!

No, thank God. DST said in a Q&A that the "speaking phaser" thing was just rumor.

8/26 according to Art Asylum's site. Given what we've seen so far I think that's a reasonable estimate.
BTW Welcome to Trektoy!

And here is the TWOK communicator box! Well.. not really, but I think it's pretty close. I even changed the battery number and type! Image made by me.

haha thats awesome. but in seriousness I have been wondering how they will package the WOK Comm since the real one does flip all the way up like the TOS Comm.

Did anyone have a pic of the back of the box?

If you've seen the latest TOS communicator packaging (the comms with the plastic lids), it might be similar to what they would do with the TWOK comm as it is more compact.

maybe, but if they did, they'd have to put it sideways or have it closed because the WOK comm when it opens is almost at a 90 degree angle. I envisioned something more like what they put the captain's chairs in if they wanted to have it open. just food for thought. in anycase, they should hurry and decide so we can have it!

DST will definitely display it open because if they didn't, all potential buyers would see would be a black box! Anyway I think it'll be awhile before we see a box for it given DST's lack of info. Besides, DST, NEVER hurries!
DST hasn't let us see the back of the phaser box yet unfortunately.
Here's a screencap of an open communicator (yeah that's gonna need a bigger box!):

I gotta get me a phaser.

Communicator is more likely that not, IMHO, but may be halted if the Phaser doesn't sell well.

Yeah, it would probably be oriented vertically for the TWOK comm.

If you notice, the button to activate the comm should technically be on the back...you can see Kirk's finger is pressing on it in that picture, which is turning on the lights. I doubt we'll see that though.

Looks like this is still on track for release later this month. Of course, everything else (figures, excluding Rom Kirk/Spock) has been pushed back to 2010 as expected.

Well...

I've pre-ordered more then my share of the TOS 5 wave... and they were shown on the back of the Latest Kirk/Spock 2-pack so I really hope they don't cancel them!

Yeah but I'd rather have the lights come (and stay) on automatically than having the comm be 100% prop accurate and having to hold a button down. Funny how I never noticed that before. Kirk holding down the button I mean (I did know there was a button there). *sigh* looks like I'll have to watch TWOK again. tongue.gif
Oh and BTW, whoever receives this (the phaser) first, please post pics if you can!
