I've got to pre–order this. I'm hoping BBTS will get more collector's grade packaging in though, as I definitely want one of these for my "boxed" collection. I'm definitely drooling over Sulu's Excelsior though; now I just need the NX Excelsior to be announced. (And I agree with BadBunnyMike; I don't see how the NX Excelsior doesn't become an AFX exclusive after they grabbed every other ST III toy DST has released.)

Any updates on this? Kirin Hobby (where I bought my Enterprise-B I believe) says it will be released in October, while Movies Replicas Direct says November 6, 2013.

I would be surprised if we get it before Christmas. This seems to be a busy time of year and delays usually start popping up.

That looks amazing!! By the looks of it, there not giving it a weathered wash like the Enterprise B which to be quite honest I'm really happy if they don't add the wash to the Excelsior. She looks very clean and white in the movies.

Also while I'm at it I got the Enterprise B not so long ago and It's a real beaut. It's defiantly my fave DST fed ship to date. Really love it. I decided to take a pic of her with my phone but the deflector LED was so bright it was causing a proper glare on my phone camera. So...I decided to cut out a small black circle and pop it on the deflector so I could take the pic and to my amazement, it looked a little bit more like the Excelsiors deflector from ST III. Just a thought.

Everybody here is well aware that it was factory issues that delayed the B and the BoP for a couple of years, right? The Excelsior was delayed along with them. But that was a close-to-final production sample we showed -- we'll see what the final version looks like -- and I believe it should be out around the end of the year. If anyone is giving it to a loved one for Christmas, I hope we can get it to you in time.

And we have stated that the A requires as much work as a new ship -- I'm not even sure we have given a release date for that yet. It hasn't even been solicited to retailers. This is why we don't tell you what the next ship is until we are closer to production.

All I can say is the Excelsior had better have Sulu's voice clip saying "Fly her apart then!", or I will send George Takei in his Spiderman costume after you, DSTZach.

I'm pretty sure I posted a video on our YouTube page with all of the dialogue. Don't rememer that, specifically.

Just searched for, and watched the video, lucky for you, that clip was indeed there. Now I'm going to have to tell Mr. Takei to put up the Spiderman suit, he'll be disappointed, I'm sure.  :(

Seconded. :P

If we ever got versions which allowed our own sound clips one day, my ships would be filled with the most non-sensical, random, and silly things from the shows. In George Takei's case, a few clips from his other work would DEFINITELY be thrown in as well. :)

Seriously though, can't wait for the Excelsior.

One thing that always comes up in conversation with friends about these ships (these types of toys in general) is how we're well-past the point in time where there should be USB ports in them to add new sound and light effect packages to them. They could be provided for download by the manufacturers periodically in partnership with an ongoing TV show, for example, or when a new movie is released.

I obviously know that those ideas don't apply right now for Star Trek stuff, but even without new content to spur "DLC" for the ships, they could be open for modification by the end-user - wav or MP3 files and a text file with simple code for the lighting.

Sure, we'd all get our kicks making them say silly things, but imagine how much mileage creative Youtubers would get out of them, constructing their own charming little fanfilms and such for a near-zero budget.

The other feature I think we've all desired is a touch of Furby tech - inter-ship interactivity. Obviously a much more complex undertaking than the USB port idea, but it'd be cool.
