I'm making a databse to track my collection and I'm curious about toy numbering.

1) Do series (aka "Broken Bow" or "Nemesis") have a series number?

2) Does a particular toy (aka "Johnathan Archer") have a number or numbers? Is this an Item #, SKU, UPC/EAN/ISBN, Manufacturer #?

3) Does each individual toy (aka the Johnathan Archer in my basement as opposed to the 10 Johnathan Archers in FHC's basement) have its own unique number?

I realize there's probably no definite rule and that each brand or company does things different, but as a guildeline, how does the numbering thing generally work?

Welcome to the forum cap97!!

You know, I never thought about numbering with this line of toys. I used to think it was really cool when I collected the Playmates figures, but it turned out it was just a number on the bottom of the figure.

I can't answer your question, but I am sure someone in here keeps track of that stuff.

Usually, I think there is a product number for each release, and most of the time there is an assortment number as well for each wave/case assortment. So something like Broken Bow Archer will have his own product number and Away Team Archer will have a separate product number and, obviously, the Broken Bow wave should have its own assortment number and the away team wave should have another assortment number. The packaging of the figures should have this information printed on it somewhere. If not, then the cases they were shipped in should, if anyone has those. The UPC code can be used as a filing system as well, I'm sure.
