Picked this up awhile back but didn't time to start it. Well I have a bit more time for awhile sooooo today I opened the box up. What you see is two kits. I plan to build them both up at once, keeping one and I'm planning on selling the other one maybe?

This is going to be a fun one.

Worked on it some today. If you can see, the top where the body slips on needs the edges removed. At the moment the top is sort of dish shaped and I want it to be flat. Out came the block sander.

This needs to slip down easy so that after it's all painted, when I push it down on to the body, it won't tear up the paint at the body.

Sanded the bodies down and they are looking good!!! However, the cowls have some areas that are going to have to be removed in order for them to slip down over the body like they should. You can see the areas marked in red.

I have an idea on how to solve this, stay tuned.

Ok a started to use some heavy power tools on this but after much thought I went with a drum sander on my Dremal tool. I simply inserted of end of the base in the cowl and start pushing them together. when it stopped slipping in, I sanded there. Here is a photo of the first one together.

Ok got back to it today

Heres what it looks like with the stock mounted on

In order to get it mounted on, I first had to clean out this area on the body.

Then I had to drill out this area. All I had was a spade bit, but it worked like a champ.

One of the tubes was a bit to long so I marked it off and cut the tubing.

Then, just push it all together

They're starting to look darn cool.

As AWESOME as they look (and they DO look AWESOME), the color scheme right now is making me have flash backs to the ECO line of GI Joe figures. laugh.gif

One detail that I wanted to work out, but didn't have to a guess, was at the very front. I didn't like the gap around the body and the cowl.

How I'm fixing this is by loading up the cowl section and after giving it s few minutes to dry, I pushed the body in. Since it time to harden a bit it did not stick to the body.

Just cleaning up some rough places and some holes here and there. Once this is done, I will be ready for the primer.

Here I have a piece of sandpaper over a stir stick. This should get is sanded nice and flat

Got to get those edges off these pieces. Only showing the pink one but both it and the blue one had the same problem.

Now for a general all around sanding to make sure that any release compound that is remaining is removed.

I can almost smell the primer now.

Remember that what I do for one piece I almost always have to for the 2nd matching piece for the other rifle.

Ready for some primer

OH NO needs a few places still touched up. sad.gif

This time everything is looking SLICK!

On to touching up the cowls a bit more
