For anyone wanting to do some customs with the regula-1 kirk, this might help...
If you boil a pot of water and stick the kirk in for a min or so, the jacket will get soft and pliable. You can then firmly grab the legs and twist and pull until the top and bottom separate.
Now you can repaint the the division stripes easily, re-heat the top and pop the legs back in!
Also, you can separate the collar the same way.

Yeah, if you get one of the new Kirks, with the collar down, you don't even have to remove the collar!
But I would recommend that you reassemble the top & bottom before painting anything on the top... otherwise sometimes the boiling water can strip your paint!
Once you paint the legs, you don't need to boil them to re-assemble!
