#93328 McFarlane Toys Gets Entire Star Trek Licence!

Posted by JonWes on 21 February 2018 - 12:13 AM

TrekCore have a nice video with this article. Working proto of the Discovery phaser which seems to operate similarly to DST phasers. It looked solid and very slick and theyre aiming for a $34.99 price. Burnham and whatever figure shes coming out with are still going through approvals. Sounds like TKuvma wont launch with Burnham. Id love him down the line though.

Got my Shenzhou on Saturday, I guess. I was just out of town. The magazine is much smaller, but with the same usual concept art. No binder. I wonder if we'll get one? It's a great model. Looks beautiful to me. It's almost hard to see, but there IS translucent red plastic in the very thin line of the nacelles. I tried to show it in one of the pics.

Looks like they updated the Phase II prototype to have more red bussard collectors. I like it much better.

I'm sure we'll see 7'' figures. McFarlane is moving away from the 5'' figures, and TWD only keeps going because fans demand it. Hopefully they are going for more fully articulated figures. However, I will say... I saw their Clash of the Titans figure today and was amazed at how awful the articulation looked. It was so dated and exposed, with the pegs not matching the color of the surrounding plastic. Yikes.

I got Khan and I like him. I do think the foot indent was a dumb design decision, to be honest. It kind of takes away from the sitting pose. The sitting pose works better, to me, when you attach his foot to the peg. So he doesn't float as bad. The red around the eyes is a bit over done on my figure. That being said, after the fairly vanilla TNG releases, this felt more like it. I wonder if DST has less faith in TNG as a property or something? I never quite got why the TOS offerings seem more elaborate?

I'm happy to hear the Select line is ongoing. Even though a Borg will be fun, I was really hoping we'd see more TNG crew, at least. I feel like if they developed more than just one or two a year it'd have more momentum with fans.

Thanks! It looks cool un-lit. But I do think when I display it I'll try to have a light somewhere to shine into it.

#82344 Ask DST #285

One thing that I think it's important to remember... I, too, get frustrated as a fan as there are not more numerous releases from DST. Just because, you know, I'd love to have a few more Selects to buy or ships like Voyager in my collection. But... right now DST are pretty much the only people to have sustained a Trek toy line of any kind in years and years.

As hard as it is to face as Trek fans, Star Trek is just not the merchandising juggernaut it once was. The merch from both of the recent movies has fallen flat on its face. Sales are soft on other retail Trek toys, too.

So... although it can be frustrating as fans because we want more, more, more... the fact that DST are still cranking away at these toys at all is pretty great. The Star Trek III phaser is a lot of fun. I can hardly believe it was made! I have to tell myself to do this sometimes, but I think it's good to just relax and take some more time to enjoy the cool things you have, rather than looking for the next new thing.

I was just watching Pixeldan talk to some dude from Mezco.  When he was talking about there Superman, Flash and Spaceghost he said that they will have a Kirk and Spock.  I had to rewind the video to make sure I heard right. They also said they have other Trek figures in production.  Yes they are the 60s not the new trek.

Yes! They were on the original flyer (well, Star Trek was) for One:Twelve. I have the Batman figure and it's amazing. I am really looking forward to these. Excited they are going to actually be put out at SDCC.

So, I shared the Janeway Select figure concept on my Tumblr. It took off, a bit! Lots of positive feedback. Just saying, DST. :)

So excited about the hints and new reveals! Love this line more and more. I got the JJprise, finally. I thought mine looked really good. I kind of wish it wasn't so huge, to be honest, but other than that I was happy.

My model would not look as nice as yours, so I'm up for the pre-painted one. LOL.

Got mine last week. Such a beautiful figure. I'm so happy I took the plunge. The lights are amazing.

Well I couldn't help myself. I went ahead and subscribed.

I don't think you'll regret it. I'm not quite sure where I'm going to display them all, is my problem. I just love the variety of the figures, and so far customer service has been great for me.

I thought Voyager was great as well. Some of the paint detail seemed a little softer than some of the other ships, but it wasn't bad.
