I'm going to be picking up a Playmates "Boomerang" and wanted to know how accurate it was next to it's on-screen counterparts? And is there any way of making it more accurate?

*(Pictures of rebuilds and such always welcome :) )

Here are a few pics I took of some boomerangs next to the insurrection playmates. The darker one is a Master Replicas, the one with the red and yellow power meter is an HMS/roddenberry, and the one with the green is a Stapleton.

Removal of the clip is the main thing. A repaint with automotive paint, a Plastikote 7173 equivalent, and fill in the screw holes should probably make for a decent rebuild. THe trigger button should be silver for the series version, red for the tng movies.

Thanks for posting that efni, as it's confirmed something I'd always assumed - the toy is actually bigger than the real thing. lol

It's definitely "kid sized." Same as the TNG cricket phaser.

was always jealous of one of my friends who had that Phaser while I had the older TNG version... nice collection of Boomerangs iams001efni, Ive been considering picking up a Stapleton kit its a shame no one makes the holsters for them these days (possible cosplay/display thoughts)

The Anovos hand phasers will come with holsters, though no info yet if they'll be selling the holsters separately. I picked up a boomerang phaser holster from a vendor at DragonCon a couple years ago. It's pretty sweet.
