I have always hated the replies that Chuck gives in the Q&A... always being cryptic.
I understand the need to reply coyly on release dates to surprise fans... but when you remove a line of figures from the site, and say things like "chipping away"... its really pathetic. Although I wasn't totally happy with DS9 wave two. I did love the Martok and Gowron figures. I wanted Sisko and the chair, and also wanted the Borg Line... but dammit all to hell... all they freaking care about is TOS. I won't be re-buying the TOS crew, only Rand and Chapel (if they aren't pulled)... I just can't believe this. Another poster said it well... how can figures like Stargate and BSG get huge sales but not TNG or DS9... DST's answers on the Q&A and their logic is horrendous.

This is getting to be a (bleep)ing joke.

Well think of it this way - Diamond Select Toys are trying to create figures - and not just one figure or one high end replica but waves of figures based on shows that ended a decade ago, almost two decades ago and are just simply not as iconic as the series that began Star Trek.
TOS sells for two reasons: the original series has been for a long time seen as the best of all the Star Trek's - hence the reason why JJ Abrams made a Kirk and Spock film rather than a Picard and Data movie. TNG and as you go along until you reach Enterprise are just not as iconic - they are spin off's to the original series.
What DST should be doing is producing statues, and high end figures based on these shows that meet demand of fans who want ONE quality item from their favorite Star Trek show - and not waves of figures. The ships are only going to get better it seems and i think sell pretty well. Role play items could do well too but figures, not enough people are that into these shows, a decade or two after the height of their popularity to buy a wave let alone several waves of figures but people might go for a resin figurine of Janeway or Seven or Sisko. or perhaps a high end figure of Picard rather than the

Well, if they're still working on them but they're not canceled then I'm thinking either they ran into a snag, or someone picked them up as exclusives. The latter is probably a stretch, though.
If they are indeed canceled, though, it will be pretty disappointing. I'd like to put them on preorder, but haven't been able to commit to anything like that for the past few months due to money getting tighter, but I was hoping they would get released and I could get pick them up eventually.

DST has removed the Borg Wave from their website. I wonder what this means?
You know what this means. Either it's canceled or they're re-tooling it to be an assimilated Kirk/Spock two-pack.
Sigh.

Let me preface this by saying I buy everything DST Trek has done, and will probably continue to do so.. but.. It's sad to say, I really don't care what's cancelled or released anymore. It only serves to aggravate me, so it's not worth my time. Sorry DST, I really don't care one way or the other about you anymore. Way too many failures and dashed hopes.
That said, I personally doubt this has been cancelled. Wave two may be interesting, but I'm thinking wave one will still surface. Maybe they're thinking of an idea to get the alcove in one wave because of "low preorders" and they know how pissed off it'd make the fans to get stuck with half an alcove?

Oh man if they released Wave 1 and canned Wave 2 and left us with half an alcove that would probably be the straw that broke the camels back for sure. They would lose SOO Much buisness because of that for sure.

See, I think if we get wave 1 then they'll do wave 2 as well. I think they'd like to make back some of the money they must've spent designing the alcove. And I'd think wave 2 would sell well, with the Borg Queen and FC Locutus. Or maybe that's just me.

Wave 1 has been off DST web site most of the week now. Wonder what this means?

Personally, I feel like they handled the Borg wave wrong. I think that Seven of Nine (human and drone), the Borg Queen, and to some degree another Locutus are excellent figures and definitely worthwhile...but three more random drones were too many to justify a full pre-order for me. When i asked about it, they said that the number of drones were there to provide additional parts for custom-hobbyists...and I can sort of understand that...but I would personally have been more interested in maybe a single random drone, "One" from Voyager, and Hugh from TNG. There would still be customizable parts, but there would have been actual characters to flush out the lines. At this point, I find it difficult to pay that much for a random character. I would rather they used their new-sculpt budget for Tasha Yar, Guinan, Quark, or Bajoran Kira...or the Voyager Crew.
