#73365 Marvel Select

Posted by robster on 11 December 2013 - 08:31 AM

I would LOVE the NSEA Protector and a phaser and VOX! And some figs! Gwen is a must! lol! And Alexander D.,Sarris and some of the other aliens and of course Jason. And you could do the little shuttle as well.....OH and the rock monster! And the piglizard! OMG! NEAT! lol!

But I really do hope they'll do SOMEthing for the 15th anniversary next year. I remember seeing this at the movies in Portland that Christmas. My most perfect Christmas I've had in my life,so far.

#73364 No AA Mayweather Helm Station available? I'll build my own then......

Posted by robster on 11 December 2013 - 08:22 AM

Y'know, that's a good question. And here's the answer.

It was a dark and stormy night. All was quiet in the toy aisles. They were brimming over with toys that had JUST been restocked and were waiting for the doors to open early in the morning. The hours snailed by and then,SUDDENLY.....

Nah,just kidding. The impulse buyer in me sometimes buys two of things he thinks are cool, really likes or if the item screams BUYME!,BUYME! And this item fits all three. I also like to have an extra in case a fellow collector might need one,or just to save. No,I don't do ebay. I don't have an ebay account and I almost never buy from ebay. The rare instances that happens,a friend of mine in Raleigh does the whole thing for me. I just give him money and say, shop. For some weird reason I have never liked ebay, and I have no reason as to why.

Anyways, when and if you do take pre-orders,I would still like two. LOL! I only have one Mayweather fig,but ended up with two of some of the others because of this whole bridge set thing.

I also ended up with two of some of the 2009 figs, but that was by choice as I,for the first time in my life, did some head swaps so I got a Bones and Chekov in Starfleet uniform. NEAT! And yes,I did like what Playmates did back then too. I know most of you don't,lol!

Great stuff Darren!

#73314 Playmates Promo Stuff

Posted by robster on 10 December 2013 - 04:31 AM

Well said JP! That's my relationship with Trek as a whole, this kinda love/hate kinda thing.

One of my fun times collecting Playmates figs is this one.

On one of my many London trips way back when,I went into Forbidden Planet when they were still at New Oxford Street. They had JUST got in a new batch of figs from TNG and DSN and me and this other guy were filling up with figs. Suddenly a figure fell on the floor,as we were just putting them in our arms. We both looked down at it,then looked up at each other and just smiled. I said,I think that's yours, and he said,no you go ahead and take it. So I picked it up and said, wait, let me check if I already got it. So I checked my batch of figs and I had it so told him he could have it,to whcih he said thanks, and we carrid on loading up our full arms,LOL! It was just a fun moment in time, and it's the only time I've been able to pick up that many new figs in one go.

Of course,I did fill up an ice hockey bag first year I went to Comic Con,and the funny thing was when I went to Portland after the con and went by a Hallmark store to pick up some orny's and was standing in line to pay, this guy said,oh you play hockey, and I had to say no,it's full of action figures. LOL! He was actually more impressed by that,so told him I'd just got here from Comic Con and so on. Another fun time, lol!

But yeah JP,those days are far gone and will never come back. But it was....fun. lol. First time I went to FAO Schwarz in New York in 98,Christmas time,I picked up the Harry Kim and Species 8472 two pack,SO happy seeing that on the shelf there! With some other figs too. I really do miss those days when you excitedly went to a toy store in the US hoping to find some new figs. And the total WEEEEE when you DID! And I miss KBToys!

Ooops,better stop writing or it'll turn into a novel,lol!

Keep up the great work JP!

Ok,stupid question that may have been answered already. Are you making this just for yourself or are you gonna offer it to others to buy? I would REALLY like one just to complete my bridge set. Would've liked to complete the Playmates one too of course, lol, but it'd be great to at least complete SOMEthing.

And great work!

#73125 CBS and Qmx dupped me !!!

Posted by robster on 30 November 2013 - 05:04 PM

Amazon has it in stock for 89.99 right now, which is way better than the ridiculous 200+ not long ago. A friend of mine in Raleigh just ordered the phaser for me from Qmx. I like the movie but Paramount are just screwing with the fans when they released a bluray and dvd with next to nothing in the special features section. I'll wait for a PROPER release,2 disc dvd set or whatever, like the previous movie. Yes,I know special features are all over the place, but that's not how I want it,lol! All nice and convenient in one place, thank you very much. And I know a lot of people cancelled their pre-orders just because of this, lol!

Do love the phaser though. Also hear rumours there's yet another version coming, with lights and sound and whatnot,in the 150 bucks range. I'll get that too, lol!

And to stay on topic of course,as always, lol, some great stuff on display at the con, both Trek and....for me at least....non-Trek. I like it all! Top of my list is still the SPM KITT though.

#72310 Star Trek Calendars

Posted by robster on 29 September 2013 - 01:24 AM

You know you can buy it on Amazon UK,right?

I usually get mine on sale right after Christmas as I always spend Christmas in the US and they're 50% off, lol! Just like all the Hallmark ornaments are, lol! I always get this one and the mini Peanuts one. And whatever goes through my head at the time of looking through all the calendars. Some of'em has SUCH gorgeous pics! LOVE the Monument Valley one! Really need to go there one day,if only to get it outta my system, lol!

You can also buy it from US Amazon, books have no limit when it comes to tax and customs,at least not to this dump of a country that I live in right now. Not the UK unfortunately, lol!

Like this topic!

#71263 Collecting conunderum

Posted by robster on 07 August 2013 - 02:38 AM

VERY well said VF! And I agree,of course, lol! I kinda feel I'm in two worlds though,my collecting world and my everday life world, and can easily traverse both worlds. No,not gonna do the obvious best of both worlds comment here,LOL!

I love to travel,UK and US mostly, and go to cons, and meet other people who like a lot of the stuff I like and collect things and so on. I have a fun job,3-6 year old kids can be great fun, lol, and I rent a nice little house and do everyday stuff. Need a bigger house 'cos of all the stuff I have though, lol! Luckily for me these days I only buy what I feel has a coolness factor or just leaps off the shelf screaming BUYME!BUYME! Be it old or new. Am I stuck in the past? Not really. I may see an item from an old movie or tv show and go,oooooh, that's GOOD! And buy it. I love watching old stuff, too numerous to mention here of course, lol, but it don't mean I'm stuck in the past.

The only real problem I have in the everyday part of my life is....I really hate the country I live in. But I can deal with that as long as I get to do my one day trips to London about once a month, and my three or four times a year trips to the US. Something to look forward to gets me through the day,so to speak.

Right NOW I'm into good ol' Doctor Who again, lol! And a little Spidey on the side, with SW trying to sneak in,lol.

By the way, both of you last posters are located in NC!? Far from Raleigh? I go there once or twice a year to visit my Spidey collecting friend. That's all he collects. How DO people do that!? It's.....wait for it....AMAZING! LOL!

Anyways, roll on October so I can get my big fat butt back to the US,lol!

Have fun y'all, and keep it real!

Not been on the site for some time now, other than to check on some of the stuff we DIDN'T get but was planned or in prototype stage. Love that kinda stuff.
