#48126 Playmates Star Trek Toys ON HOLD

Posted by NickyTea on 06 December 2009 - 10:01 PM in Playmates

This is terrible news.

I wonder if eliminating the 6 inch line from the get go would have helped prolong the other line's life?

#46391 Playmates Classic Trek Wishlists

Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln for sure!

... and a Trelane wouldn't be too bad either. ;-)

#45350 3 3/4" movie figure discussion

Posted by NickyTea on 09 September 2009 - 01:03 PM in Playmates

QUOTE (bgiles73 @ Aug 19 2009, 11:32 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The only company I've found in recent years, to take any kind of risk and be innovative in playset development, was Zizzle with the "Pirates of the Carribean" line!

God, I miss that line. It really reinvigorated my interest in this scale.
(I was lucky enough to get the super-rare, impossible to find Beckett figure.)

Back on topic, every time I'm at a store, I check to see if wave 2 has hit. My targets are getting low on stock, so I suppose that's a good sign.

#42753 Playmates on course to get the Entire Star Trek Liscense???

Posted by NickyTea on 03 July 2009 - 11:56 AM in Playmates

I have a feeling at eventually production methods will advance to the point where figures will be so inexpensive to produce, they they'll be able to supply EVERY character. If the technology was some more advanced form of the 3d printing/CNC machining we have now, you could easily do a one-off, or on an order-by-order basis. Have a main line of figs that appear in the stores, then on the back, advertise the HUNDREDS of other figures you can order custom.

Exciting!  Let's hope.

Anyone know of any sculptors doing a Chris Pine headsculpt? This fig begs for a new head.

That is GREAT news! (Crossing fingers for a T1 Kyle Reese.)

#39689 You asked for it, well here it is!!

Posted by NickyTea on 03 June 2009 - 08:03 PM in Playmates

What can we expect for the future of the 3 3/4" line of figures? Something as expansive as the Hasbro Star Wars lines in this scale?

#39301 2009 movie Enterprise ship toy - wonky??

Posted by NickyTea on 30 May 2009 - 11:07 PM in Playmates

That QMX is a picture of an abnormally wonky model. Their production models wont look like that.

#38327 Playmates new USS Enterprise new images

Posted by NickyTea on 17 May 2009 - 12:34 PM in Playmates

There's really no excuse for the PM ship looking so bad.
That saucer is just all kinds of wrong, from it's upward slope to its mushy profile.

I really want a good representation of this ship. Love the design.

#37746 What Figures & Toys Do You Want In Future Waves? (Movie Spoilers)

Posted by NickyTea on 10 May 2009 - 10:12 PM in Playmates

I agree with a great many posted here! My priority:

Enterprise McCoy
Enterprise Checkov
Delta Vega Spock Prime
Delta Vega Kirk
Delta Vega Scotty
Keenser
Ayel
Captain Robau (what a badass)
Orion Cadet
George Kirk and Winona Kirk, Spock's Parents (Maybe 2-packs?)

Is any company producing model kits of the ship?

#37445 Playmates 2008 Star Trek Movie Toys

Posted by NickyTea on 06 May 2009 - 09:38 AM in Playmates

On another board, someone mentioned the 3 3/4" figs being $4 a piece at Wal Mart.  I went down to mine with no such luck: still the normal 6.47.

#37085 Playmates 2008 Star Trek Movie Toys

The ad says nothing of the dates of this sale.
Does it start on this sunday and run through the week?

#36281 Harry Potter figures

QUOTE (TheHSBR @ Apr 18 2009, 08:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I heard it a while back that Corgi was going to try to distribute in the US, then Corgi had some issues themselves so who knows.  I would be seriously tempted to pick these up.  The character selection is just awesome and obviosly much better than Neca's lineup.  I really hope something happens.

Agreed.  I've been drooling over these things forever. I buy the NECA because it's what I can get, but these are so much more my scale.

#36248 Harry Potter figures

I heard a rumor that U.S. distribution is in negotiation for the popco figures.
Can anyone confirm or deny this?

#36243 TOS Tricorder video

Posted by NickyTea on 18 April 2009 - 06:39 PM in AA / DST

Isn't the med scanner an Entertainment Earth exclusive?
I'm considering pre-ordering.

#36219 Got a couple of the 3 & 3/4" figures a little early!

Posted by NickyTea on 18 April 2009 - 02:51 PM in Playmates

I got over it by not buying them.
No idea why they included them in the first line.

#36144 What about DST Exclusives?

Posted by NickyTea on 17 April 2009 - 07:14 PM in AA / DST

That's a very interesting idea. I wonder what the logistics would be to get something like that started. Seems only logical in a market of figures that is increasingly niche.

#36143 Playmates 2008 Star Trek Movie Toys

Posted by NickyTea on 17 April 2009 - 07:11 PM in Playmates

So I've determined that which stores break the street date is entirely random.
Of 2 Targets ... one put out a few figs, the other nada.
Of 2 Walmarts ... nothing.
And yet K Mart puts out almost everything.

#35853 Got a couple of the 3 & 3/4" figures a little early!

Posted by NickyTea on 15 April 2009 - 07:24 PM in Playmates

I think that may be the case.
My TRU put the toys out, but nada everywhere else. Nothing at 2 Walmarts, 3 targets, and 1 Kmart.
I'm figuring they'll be waiting for sunday, so my wife and I decided to make a day of it. Get up early, go out for breakfast, then hit up Walmart and wipe 'em clean!

#35469 What does everyone think of the New Movie Roll Play stuff?

Posted by NickyTea on 11 April 2009 - 08:43 PM in Playmates

After playing with the phaser for a few hours, I'm having trouble getting the red nozzle to rest pointing directly forward. I may take it apart to see what it happening.

Anyone else experiencing this?

#35436 Got a couple of the 3 & 3/4" figures a little early!

Posted by NickyTea on 11 April 2009 - 02:28 PM in Playmates

Went to my TRU, and they had all the figures ... except for the 3 & 2/4 scale! GAH.
So I picked myself up a phaser and called it a day. PSHEW PSHEW! This thing is fun.
