I just picked up a Playmates Klingon attack cruiser on ebay; I've never had one before. What are peoples thoughts on it? From what I've seen it looks to be one of Playmates' best. I know they used a few for some of the battle scenes in DS9.

On a side-note, you can see in one of the shots for "Way of the warrior" from DS9 that one of the ships that blows up is clearly a plastic model kit as the entire bottom of the ship gets blasted away in a nearly complete piece! The piece also looks to be very thin plastic. Though I could be wrong...

You can see what I mean at 3:26:

That model blowing up is hilarious! I'd love to hear some commentary on episodes like that (from the production staff/modelers etc).

Playmate's Vor'cha is lovely. Arguably their best in my opinion. I wish I still had mine to go with the Eaglemoss Defiant.

One of my personal favorites and one of playmates best.  The detail they got on it was amazing.

I used to have it.  It was a good replica for the time.

I was curiosu about that myself.  In early seasons though The Vorcha does appear to have that mint green color.  They seemed to have darkened it in later seasons.

It was darkened later on with red accents:

Well it would seem I was wrong about the Vorcha in the DS9 clip I linked to being an AMT model; it would appear from the fragments sold at auction that it was a specially made fiberglass breakaway model...

Thats pretty damn impressive that they were able to use the playmates Vorcha on the show itself.

Finally noticed all the playmates "Klingon attack cruisers" and "Romulan warbirds" in this picture. I think the sheer number of them suggests that they were used on screen rather than simply having been used for blocking and such.

(P.S. I find it weird that the spell-check recognizes "Klingon" but not "Romulan"! lol)

I love the Playmates Vorcha!  They really did well on that one, the Warbird, and Voyager.

And it looks to be in scale with the smaller of the two Bird of preys too! Cool display. :)

I bought a Vor'Cha Attack Cruiser several years ago and painted the red panels on it to match the look of it's DS9 appearances.

I was kicking around doing that too; I guess I'm getting in to the land of obsession (Creating every variant). I've been considering the model kit for that though, but if I can get a Playmates version cheap enough...

Well, I got mine. Sadly, the seller lied about it's condition (Battery had ruptured and damaged the plastic and the electronics.) so it's damaged and non-functional. I think I'm pretty much done with ebay, ugh...

It sure looks good though! Almost as good as the model kit. Recommended.

Good news is the seller has offered me a refund!

So anyone out there keen on trying to spot the Playmates toys in the episode(s)?
