Howdy all,
Just wondering about production time frames.
How long before the figure hit shelves are they painted, assembled & packaged?
We have just had a woman released from WWE's ECW who is to be receiving an action figure hitting stores next month, I am assuming by this point in time, her figures would already be painted & assembled....atleast I am hoping!
Anyone with some inside info? I'm sure it's slightly different for most companies, but they'd all have a general time frame when things need to be ready for shipping.

Someone asked that ? to Jakks on wrestlingfigs and they said 6 months as long as there were no bumps in the road but that there rarely aren't bumps in the road. I'm guessing your worried about Ariel and Kelly? I don't know if this means anything but I watched RAW and i'm watching ECW right now and Kelly was on both of them. I think her figure and Ariel are going to be released but that's just my opinion.
I just mean at what point is it too late to cancel a figure. When are they made in relation to thier release date?
I'm not worried about Kelly Kelly, she is still with the WWE so her figure will come out. It was only hearing Ariel has been fired that got me thinking they may cancel her figure...which would suck.
I'm hoping it is too later to cancel her figure.

^It's different for each company. There are a lot of issues that go into making a toy that's based on an actual person too. It all depends on the company's contract with the licenser, the studio (if applicable) the individual, the PR firm for the individual, etc. It's a LOT of red tape, so there's really not a set time frame.

I would think that the Ariel figure will be released. It was slated for Mid June so I think that the figure has already been made. In regards to Jakks the only time they have pulled a figure is when it was easrly in the production process and was just announced. However Ariel might be harder to get if they do one per case and not many cases are produced.

I am not sure about how long the production process is, but at Playmates it was apparently a pretty lengthy process with an example being the "Generations" figures being produced in uniforms that the studio had scrapped long before the figures ever came out. The word was that playmates hurried them through production, the result being less articulation and detail, but they still were not fast enough to change the design after Paramount switched up the uniforms. Must have been a good bit more than 6 months IMO.

I did too and was disappointed when we got thrown the old DS9 uniforms. BAH!
But just think... if they DID use those uniforms, then that is what the Voyager crew would have been in for 7 years. Good? Bad? You decide.
