Battlestar Galactica has been canceled after season 4 which begins in January 2008. There will be 22 more episodes in the series and the producers promise Battlestar will have a beginning, middle and, end for fans.

Sorry for those fans that loved the show, but i am kinda glad it is ending, since IMO the show is a disgrace to the Battlestar Galactica original fanbase.

I think the show has ran the storyline into the dust and is ready to move on, I am sure I will miss it as others also, but hopefully they will leave themselves the option of a movie or miniseries from time to time, but they will have 22 episodes to close it properly.

The last season began and ended good. The middle episodes were mainly fillers IMO. Hopefully it will finish strong.
What will become of the SCI-FI channel? It has mainly become the channel for Heroes re-runs as much as SPIKE is the home of CSI reruns.

I'm not sure where you read that Mark, but there definately is some confusion on the subject. I've got multiple sources either confirming or denying that this is the last season. While this isn't the same BSG I grew up on, I am enjoying it. I just hope that when they pull the plug it's on a high note. I've read on other forums that fans want the loose ends tied up. But that's something I love about BSG and Heroes, at the end of each episode I'm wondering what's going to happen next. So I'm kind of hoping that some things are left unanswered too. I think that was the great mystery about Star Wars back in the day, how did Anakin become Darth Vader and what happened after ROTJ? It made for great books and fan fiction, same as Star Trek.
I kind of feel like we're turning into a society where everything has to be explained to us and that takes out some of the mysteries of life's experiences I do share Sybeck's sentiment though, what's left for Sci Fi with BSG, SG and several other shows coming to a close? I kind of wish they would find their roots again and bring back some of the classic shows and even one's from recent years. Lost in Space, Dark Shadows, Nightstalker, Highlander, Dead Zone and the Adam West Batman show. But I digress, this isn't about Sci Fi's channel line up, but whether or not BSG returns after a 4th season So lets return to the speculation continue. Me, personally, I'm going to be holding in a pattern delta awaiting orders from Galactica

Honestly I'm not sure how to feel about this. I really do enjoy the show, but I've begun to feel like it was starting to get boxed in developmentally speaking. There's so much going on that's been coming to a head in the fourth season that I think all that's left to do IS resolve the strings. So it's ending organically as it should.

Yeah it was confimred on Yahoo news yesterday by the producers. I am disapointed but at least we are getting a final season with some sort of an ending. I am pretty sure that we will see some sort of spinoff from it though.

Well, they are planning on doing a Caprica series, set in the past. From what I've heard it's going to be like Dallas(Night Time Soap). The one I wish would see the light though is the Pegasus series. I feel that would be a interesting show to see where they got to the point where Galactica and them met up.

^I think that would work better as some sort of limited mini-series rather than a continuing series like BSG.

Many shows go on too long. Even in Voyager the every year hint that they were going to find a way home got old. Im glad that Battlestar is going out on top instead of wasting away to the point where the story means nothing and the fans lose interest. A TV show like this needs to be definatively ended. Spin offs, mini series, and the occasional TV movie would be a great way to continue the franchise.
On a side note has there been any movement on releasing the season 3 dvd boxed set? It seems like a really long time has passed since the last one came out.

I haven't heard anything on the BSG Season 3 set yet either, but I know they usually release these a few months before the season premieres too.

^I wish they would hurry up and release the COMPLETE BSG season 2, not that stupid 2.0, 2.5 crap. I got tired of Farscape doing that so that's why I never bothered buying them.
But back to topic, should we start predicting what's going to happen this season?
