Any hints on the new role-play item, Zach?  If not outright...maybe which era?

As much as I want something TNG, I'm expecting another TOS/TMP prop.

I'd probably buy a Star Trek 6 Assault Phaser if they made one, I've always loved that phaser. Maybe with a removable magazine?

I'd be fine if they wanted to start small with the TNG type 1 phaser - but I'm happy with pretty much any TNG goodness that might come along.

The ST5/6 phaser is easily my most wanted overall though.

It would be cool if they did a TNG Type 1 Phaser along with something else maybe a Type 1 "2 pack" that includes the Season 1 all silver paint scheme and the season 3-5 Black, Copper, and darker silver paint scheme.....

I would happily accept a Star Trek V/VI Phaser also..... The Master Replicas is just too much money for a role play item :(

I hope that not having a ship at NYCC isn't a bad omen for the SSL line....

Or perhaps the oft requested ST3 phaser.

I certainly wouldn't mind that. :D

You mean Toy Fair, right?  If they already have investors/orders for their upcoming Excelsiors, HMS Bounty, Ent-A and Battle Damaged Ent-B then that's probably why they're not concerned about showing off ships at TF.

There will be a new role-play at NYTF, but not so sure about the ships anymore.

Also, a Select design, I believe.

Oooooooooooooo! Finally! some new news... which is why I keep poking my head in this thread!

Looking forward to new role-play Zach!

I hope that A new select suggests that the Picard sales were strong enough to warrant another?  The line still hasn't caught my fancy enough for me to go in on it, but I do think its looking good, and a nicely done 7 of 9 *would* get me off the side lines (nudge nudge wink wink!)

I see 1701 has separated....  I'm sorry but after 1701 had stated on more than one occasion that  he didn't even like or collect toys anymore I wondered  why he was even on a "Toy Forum"?

The original $299 price tag was fair considering it was built the same as the original prop and even better as it had lights and sound. That having been said, I'd like to see what DST could come up with in it's place.

I might be wrong, but if that was the assault phaser, well from what I heard and saw about it over the years, it was a bit of a dud. :/

Anything from TNG forwards, will happily have a home with me. I'd love a Cricket phaser, but as the first TNG offering, I can't see it personally. If I could wish for one, it'd be the Boomerang or Dolphin version, but I'd still love a Cobrahead (lost my playmates one years ago).

On the subject of the Dolphin phaser, if that was one considered in the future, I'd love to see the guts of it light up - as with the Enterprise Phase Pistol. That blew my mind the first time I saw that toy. :)

Youre right Jay K.... DST could make two versions of the Dolphin Phaser.... There is the Nemesis and the future variant Admiral Janeway had in the final episode of Voyager.... They are basically just repaints except for the power meter...

While I would love to see a STIII Phaser or a Dolphin Phaser I am up for any role play item. Re doing the Enterprise phase pistol would be cool or even a TOS Laser pistol.

Only thing to add to this would be that I'd buy both! :)

The prospect of DST, after all these years, FINALLY making some TNG+era Trek-Tek, has me so excited. Fingers crossed they actually are!

While I enjoyed the Klingon Disrupter, I actually found it to be a bit large.

I'm hoping the new role play fits nicely in my hand!

Me too.  Surprisingly so.  And it had a plastic, hollow feel.  I could've gone for a smaller, heftier piece made with thicker plastic at the same price point.

Oh god...it all comes back to plastic doesn't it?

Looking forward to seeing who the next Select figure is. Hoping for Seven but it would probably be Worf or Data....which is also cool. Will be nice to see their dioramas.

RE: 1701 leaving - he was suspended from Playtrek mailing list not too long ago for abusive & prejudiced behaviour. I even received some horrendous private messages from him here in the past & left the forums for a long time. I'm sure the guy had some good points, but in general he was bad medicine. Wish I could say I'm sorry to see him go, but if you had the displeasure of receiving one of his highly abusive & bigoted private messages...you would understand my feeling of relief.

What is you point of view regarding DST's product? I'm not trying to be antagonistic but I'd quite like to know your own opinions on DST's product. Do you think things could be improved upon? What are your thoughts on the plastic used on the WoK Enterprise? Where do you stand on these issues, if you think their issues in the first place? Do you believe we should just take whatever DST produces and feel grateful for it? I see you jump to their defence a lot (every single time) but I never really see you offer any of your own opinions on product... I could be wrong but since this conversation is current, I'd really like to know. I mean it's OK to be critical.

This is how I see it and this might be a bit of a long post, something I am not really known for but here it goes.

Having been a kid in the 90's when Playmates came out with their line, I loved it. Loved every bit of it, the toys, figures, you name it I was a fan. I loved seeing how the ships were getting better and better from them as time went on. When Playmates stopped in the early 2000's and Art Asylum took over I was a teenager, and seeing the drastic jump from the look of the Playmates stuff to the NX-01 and Enterprise figures I was floored. As more of an adult collector I loved how realistic it looked. As the line moved on it was getting better and better. More geared towards the realistic look, rather than playability.

When DST acquired Art Asylum's lines, I personally don't think there was a LOSS like most people tend to say. They gripe that Art Asylum was better and blah blah, well yeah Art Asylum was a smaller company and didn't have the resources to reach as big of a market like DST can, so sure when production runs start going up, then there are bound to be more errors found, and nitpickers start going to town.

Now yes, to most of us that have been on here for a while saw DST get sort of a bad wrap with all the delays and cancellations in the late 2000's with the Enterprise D and so forth, but you can't place the blame on them, things happen, economies take a turn, and ***t happens ya know, there is nothing you can do about it. But as a company they had to take that as a learning experience and from what we've seen with recent releases and time tables they HAVE learned.

Overall I LOVE the entire DST line, the figures kept getting better and better (with the occasional slight disappointment) and the Ships are mind blowing. What I love the most is that they aren't just releasing all the same old stuff that has been released by Playmates, for example the A, Excelsior, AGT-D. I mean sure they released some ships that PM did, but made them 10 times better, Saucer Sep on the D, movable Wings on the BoP, and even really cool variants, half cloaked and cloaked versions ya know.

DST is giving us quality product that in relative terms cost about the same as the PM ships did back in the 90's, but so much better. If you look at the inflation rates in the last 15 years, a $30 ship in 1994 would cost nearly 50 today. (http://www.bls.gov/d..._calculator.htm

So if you think about it, you are paying the same price for these ships, yet people complain that they are "expensive for a sub-standard product" because someone wants to nitpick a paint smudge, or a barely crooked registry number, shallow windows, trademark info, cheap plastic, blah blah....i've heard it all... If you want to do a price comparison vs. quality, take the JJ Prise from Playmates at $39 bucks i think it was. You get what you pay for, albeit cool, it is a TOY and LOOKS LIKE A TOY. DST ships look more real for a little bit more.

Now with the TWOK Ent, I personally never had the original AA Ent-A do do a comparison, but I have always LOVED the Refit Enterprise, and as a kid was sad PM never did one. When i got my TWOK one I still to this day think she is a thing of beauty. The "cheap plastic" argument in my opinion is pretty stupid. now yes there is a bit of light bleed which sure, it could have been painted a little bit thicker inside or something. But that might have taken away from the pearelescant look they were going for. Now this point has been made once before, but frankly HOW OFTEN are you pushing the button on the TWOK Ent? Once a month? Once a Week? 99% of the time the ship is sitting nicely on the stand on a shelf, mine is hanging from my ceiling. You don't notice the light bleed unless the ship is in front of an open window or right next to a light bulb or something, and if that is where you have the ship enough to complain that the plastic is "cheap" then you are a fool right out the gate, you will be more worried that the sun faded your ship, or turned the plastic yellow rather than the light bleed that happens once a month when you push the button.

So that being said, sure the light bleed is an inconvenience and hopefully DST does fix that problem with the A, but frankly I just don't see the point of beating a dead horse over it....yes we know people...GET OVER IT. All the negativity and reading the same bickering over and over and over just drives people away from here. I mean really....have you seen FHC posting on here lately? I haven't heard from him in MONTHS, or Sallah, people get sick of reading the same tired arguments and negativity and don't want to come back. Hell, one of these days Zach is going to do the same thing because he is just gonna get fed up with the negative attitude.

Star Trek is almost 50 years old. We SHOULD be grateful that they are still producing collectibles from the show, and that they are of quality that DST gives us. I don't "jump to their defense" I just take a different, more logical, for lack of better word, approach to things. I won't nitpick every single flaw on every single thing because I don't find it worth it. And I have said this many many times, If DST stops making Trek product someone will pick the line up and here we go again, starting all the way back from scratch with the new company releasing the same stuff that we have already gotten, I want to see DST continue to produce new and different things, and keep the line going. So "boycotting" them all together because the paint scheme on some ship was too dark or blah blah whatever other lame ass excuse some of the people on here come up with is just going to hurt the line overall and put us ALL back at square one. You don't like something DON'T BUY IT....plain and simple.

In a nutshell I am happy to get Trek toys on a regular basis and frankly someone is going to have some sort of problem with EVERY thing that DST releases one way or another, but most of the time it wont be from me. Hope that put into perspective how i see it.

Frankly in general I saw him as a bad apple, we had one a few months ago too that was like that and I just don't see the point to constant negative people on here. Having an opinion is one thing, but when every word out of your mouth, or fingers is a complaint then I don't wanna hear it and i am kind of glad to see him go. That might make me an @$$ for saying that but it is the truth. So I agree Artistix, and BTW, glad to see ya on here again! :)
