I started this forum and I lived here almost 24 / 7. It started so small and it was exciting to see it grow after the forum at Art Asylum ended. Each new member joined and it was exciting. I think that where I went wrong was trying to be to nice. I let things slide that I should not have. I was scared that I would lose members. In the end I let such negativity loose, that I got to where I hated to come here. I would come by and read without logging in on rare occasions. Today I dropped by and I decided something. I'm going to bring a little order around here. Something I've learned over these years away. I now manage about 60 people and 10 million in equipment. We service about 60,000 customers a week. Along the way I've learned that you do everything that you do everything that you can to keep a customer but there is a line in the sand and if they cross it, things change. You may invite a guest into your into your home, but you don't let them kick your dog.

Lets start small.
If you feel that you cannot make a post without using profanity, don't make it.
No politics rules still stand
No religion stands
Don't start a poll then change the questions. I don't think it's necessary to make a rule on that is it?

Glad to see you back! Those all seem very fair. Also while it's easy to focus on the negative, I've been impressed with how well this forum has been going with little moderation. It says a lot about the type of people here and it's why I enjoy discussing things here.

So... polls are like any other post that can be edited if the author feels they have a better way to phrase things. or sometimes they add additional things as the conversation goes...

.... and They are just supposed to be for fun... so not sure what the rub is.. is someone upset about them?

I kind of agree on the polls thing. I don't think it needs to be a rule necessarily, but it is kind of wrong to change the responses that people have already selected. Fixing a typo or something is fine, but when you change the whole meaning of the selection it gives the false impression that people chose that option.

Has that been a problem? the polls always let you delete your vote and re-assign it... and I think the page will tell you its been updated...   I guess if people are that worried about it... maybe make the polls so they aren't editable? I dunno...

I think your poll was the only time Ive seen it done. I didnt get any notification that it was changed. I went back and noticed the responses were different, my choice was not something I would have picked. I changed my response. In the end this is all kind of trivial, but it was something that essentially put word in my mouth that were not my own. It also skews the perception of what the general consensus is. The whole point of the polls in the first place is to gauge what the popular choices are, if the questions are changed it renders them ineffective.

Perhaps I should rephrase? I'm simply going to ask that you think quite a bit about the questions that you want to ask And ask the proper ones the 1st time.. It should require a lot of thinking as to why changing the questions in any form is going to upset those that care enough to actually vote.

I forget who said it up there but I've never actually been totally away I just never logged in much to Read. I've sort of let everyone do what they want. However I recently had quite a few people contact me asking if someone could step in and do some moderating

Most of the people who made these forums fun for me have moved on and become inactive except for a few like VulcanFanatic and Gothneo. I find it difficult to have an opinion about something without a certain couple of guys in the group jumping on me and others for it. Therefore, I am moving on as well. It will never be as good it used to be and the politics, profanity and bullying have a lot to do with that. So, it's been fun, but I am going to stick to Facebook. So long. And could someone PLEASE delete my collection topic.

And that's why so many asked me to get involved in.

But I'm fascinated as to why you would post a goodbye  in a thread (by someone with the power to do something) about eliminating the very things that you say you are leaving over.  In fact action has already been taken.

It has been going on for a long time, though. Perhaps I'll be back. When the McFarlane lines start coming out I just might be drawn back, we'll see. LLAP :)
