Pushing that button

I display some ships and I don't even leave the batteries in for the most part. They set on a nice shelf and friends that come over have seem them all before and are like, yeah aaaah ships, where's the beer? What do I want most? I want it to look good at 5' to 10' feet. I really rather not have people picking them up and playing with them and the sounds get old to me rather fast. More then one button push a day and my wife is ready to load them all in a box and say someone must have stolen them. Did you buy a DST ship just because it light up?

I like these shops because of the detail and the way they look overall. I don't care one bit for the sounds and while I like the lights would not be upset if they stopped adding those too as long as I have a nice looking ship to display.

However, I've never cared about sounds on electronic toys. Even as a kid I only wanted things to light up, mostly because my parents had nightshifts during most of my childhood so I tried to be as quiet as possible while playing inside, and because I could come up with my own sound effects. I never needed help there, and I certainly didn't need voice clips which never fit the scenarios I was thinking up.
And nowadays I just find voice clips to be cheesy because you can find pretty much any line of dialogue on the internet if you REALLY want to hear it, and I don't like sound effects that you have to cycle through. I prefer to be able to trigger a specific one. That's why I've looove DST's 'always on' feature, and hope it's not left out of any future releases. I seriously hope that whoever decided they needed that feature has gotten a huge raise by now, and maybe deserves another - if they can get it onto a future release of the Enterprise-E.

Only reason I buy them is because they're accurate sculpts of my favourite ships. The fact they light up, and nowadays have loud Shakespeare quotes, is a hell of a bonus, but the primary use I get out of them, is both looking at them, and holding/touching them (insert here, what Picard says to Data about the Phoenix in First Contact). If a ship has light-bleed, it generally doesn't bother me. Only one where I'd say it's bad, is the Refit 1701 - but even then, if I didn't have it already, I can tell you right now I'd buy this re-release and love it.
Strictly speaking, I love the lights (bleed or not, but hopefully not so bad as to when you hold the ship up to a light, it glows), and the sounds I'm not bothered about. However, there's no getting away from the fact that the Bird of Prey is a million times better with Christopher Plummer shouting out his catchphrases - it's amazing.

I always wonder because I have the MR Enterprise and I seldom ever turn it on. And it looks GOOD lit up.
My birthday is Feb. 1st. Feel free to float that my way lol. Also does some one here own this new force thats advertised here. If so I can try and buy things from there if the price is right. I like to help friends out.

I love the lights, not so much the sound. But yeah, they almost never get used. My perfect scenario would be just a lights-on option.. honestly I'd probably leave them on every once in awhile as opposed to randomly pushing a button. If they were kids toys I could see that, but I don't think that's their target market.

I like both the lights and sounds on my fleet of starships and I try to keep some fresh batteries in them all. I usually will go through them all about once or twice a week pressing the buttons.
