Trailer for the second season:
The trailer had me grinning from ear to ear. Can't wait for the show to return!

Yeah! that has me really looking forward to S2. S1 wasn't without its issues, but generally I thought it improved and was starting to find its footing... first impression is that they are continuing to build on that.

Definitely a solid trailer. They seem to be marketing it a bit better this season.
Looking forward to it.

Reportedly, ratings are down from last year's premiere (which isn't unusual) but up from the season finale.

I still haven't seen the second season premiere. I'll probably wait 'til it shows up on Hulu.

Its already on Hulu for me, watched it today.
Was a very character driven episode, which isnt bad, but is an odd choice to have as a season premiere and following a big Football game hoping to draw in new viewers.

Yeah, it was fine... a solid episode of TNG.

Two Bortus centric episodes in a row. I thought that one was a bit derivative and predictable.

I just caught the season 2 premiere last night and it literally put me to sleep. I've described The Orville as Star Trek with dick jokes and this episode was a protracted dick joke.
It gave me a couple genuine laughs (Ed's drive-by was funny) but most episodes feel padded. They still seem to be struggling with either doing a parody of TNG or a straight-up homage to it. Worse, I still don't care about any of the characters.
Cutting it to a half hour might help focus it on a single plot or two. The opener had, what, four?

Ed dealing with Kelly's new boyfriend.
The Doctor and Isaac.
Gordon (I think) and the new girl.
Alara and her dating issues.
Bortus and his ritual, which was seemingly the main storyline but had the least actual screen time. Which ultimately lead to a scene of him standing on a cliff... no audio or anything.
I think that's all the plots from the episode.

John might be my favorite character. Teaching Gordon to pick up a date was fun.
Gordon: This is eight? What's nine?
John: She still has her boyfriend. At ten she's married and has a gun.
I LOL'd.

that probably was the best line of the episode.

Tried watching episode 2. I now have another cure for insomnia. I can binge-watch eight hours of Barry no problem but getting through a single episode of The Orville is a real challenge this season.
What I do find funny is all the folks upset about the "SJW agenda" of Star Trek jumping ship to Fox to watch an episode about a same-sex couple struggling with a cyber-porn addiction.

I thought the first two episodes were okay. They probably should've been buried in the season a little further rather than premiering with it. Seems the upcoming episode fits more with what you would expect for a season opener. That being said maybe they didn't want to draw a new crowd in with action only to have them stop watching when other episodes don't deliver that. What never ceases to amaze me with this show is how heavy they can get with the circumstances while keeping it going as a comedy. They killed 2/3 of the people left on that planet and less than a minute later were making jokes. That contrast is what really intrigues me about the show and one of the things that makes it so unique.
