It all depends on what field you are going into I guess. I started a university degree and dropped out after a year because ultimately, I was just gonna waste three or four years doing something which I really didn't have to do to get a job. I started doing work experience and internships at various radio stations. I volunteered in community radio. And now I'm 8 years in to a career in radio and working the breakfast radio slot for the Number 1 radio station in the 6th biggest city in Australia and one of the biggest and most successful radio networks in the world. Uni degrees aren't everything.

Hindsight is 20/20. I went to NYU film school. Had I known at 18 what I know now, I would have skipped it and just went to LA and worked my way up. But, being a naive country boy from Alabama, I didn't know how to get anywhere except by going to school. I learned more by working on shoots while I was in school than in any class I took in my four-and-a-half years at NYU. On top of that, NYU grads generally have a bad reputation among the community for being spoiled, lazy, rich kids so you have to work twice as hard to prove you're willing to actually work and see things through. While I don't reget anything since I had some great experiences and met a lot of great people at school, I would have done things a lot differently career-wise if I had known more then. At the very least, I might have chosen another school to attend.
