I wish they had said when the Troi was first released that it would be released to everyone so that some of us collectors wouldnt freak out and spend way too much money on ebay to get these exclusives. Would be nice if it was a carded figure and wish they would use the Tapestry Picard as a freebie for purchasing the $60 dollar order too.

I hear you on that VF! That was one of my questions/comments to DST. Since it's obvious that these exclusives don't really sell out immeadiately, I see no reason why DST couldn't offer the same basic promotions on-line at the same time they make the offer to the Convention floor. If I can get to the convention I'd much rather pick it up there, but otherwise I don't see how it would really hurt them or thier retailers to do that?

Hopefully the changes we've seen in the DST online store recently are an indication that they are willing to go that route in the near future.

I mean absolutely no disrespect when I say this, but...

...you pretty much summed it up: "so that some of us collectors wouldnt freak out and spend way too much money"

I really can't lay that on DST - it is pretty much on those freaking out.

DST made Marlena available to us. It is clear they care. I wanted the figure quite a bit, but I didn't freak out, decided to be wait and here it is.

I urge people to be a little more patient in the future, and stop blaming the company when it is really about your impatience. ;-)

The internet also causes even more of a frenzy as well as raising prices on Ebay. Some news is posted, one person starts to worry and posts about it, one starts freaking out and posts about it, a bunch of others start freaking out because of that, and then the next thing you know prices on Ebay skyrocket, and those that are freaking out are feeding the scalpers. I don't think it would be half as bad if people weren't panicking from the outset. There wouldn't be as bad of a feeding frenzy on Ebay and the prices would be kept lower and would probably equalize a lot faster.

Well, I didn't really freak out and waited until one only cost me about $25, but to me the point is there is no reason why DST couldn't hold some product back from Conventions to offer up similar deals, to me it's really just being organized and letting fans know the options so they can do what suites them best. To furthure illustrate my point, the Red troi was available as a gimmie for purchasing $60 worth of toys from DST. Some people were paying more than $60 off eBay just to get the figure. If DST had either offered up the same deal online at the same time, or just told fans that such a promotion would be available on-line, then most of those people probably would have purchased $60 worth of merchandise from DST. Why pay $100 for a figure (which some people did early on) when you could get it from DST for less with a bunch of other stuff... even if you didn't really want that stuff!! DST lost a $60 sale do to poor managment, that's the way I see it.

^^^I cut in on the same deal and my two Trois have ~ literally ~ just arrived at the door!

I must say that she comes with an impressive array of varied accessories ~ more than I seem to remember the carded variants came with!

I just remember how much huffing and puffing I did in various discussions about exclusives and how I thought they were going to be impossible to get hold of ~ and now I have two!

It still begs the question of how younger collectors on lesser budgets will ever get a look-in I suppose.

Don't forget the older collectors that have limited budgets.
