Nothing has come forth from MR other than tentative plans for something they simply refer to as a TNG tricorder. So what you know is as much as any of us know in all probability.

With MR scheduling two Trek props this year, I might have to cut back on toys a bit, namely anything outside of Trek.

With MR & Trek, expect one to be pushed back to early 2008 anyway. wink.gif

I know some would argue with me, but I hope so. There's too much stuff coming out and only so much I can budget for this hobby. biggrin.gif

So... Anyone heard anything more on this?

I thought they had some mock up picts at Toy fare and then nada since then?!

I was really looking forward to a TNG Tri-Corder.

Is it dead?

Their entire Star Trek line seems stalled. There have been no updates for the assault phaser or the FC tricorder. There was word that the assault phaser had been delayed, but no word at all about the tric. The Corgi ships as well have been put on hold since MR and Corgi merged. With MR's Star Wars license expiring next year, though, hopefully that means more will be done with their other licenses, especially Star Trek.

Word is they decided not to pick it up, word on the street is that Lucas has priced it so high, it is out of reach for most companies for they cannot make a profit.

Thanks for the Info UFP-1701.

I sometimes wonder about Lucas. Sometimes it seems like he really is trying to see how much he can milk out of the fan base.

I thought the FX Light Sabers were MR's best selling Star Wars Product. Heck, I even have one! And I don't collect 'Wars Props.

I know there are impersonators that make a similar product but call it something else to try and avoid copyright infringement. Lucas should be careful because too much moola means people will embrace more of that type of product.

The Star Wars line is the MR's best selling line, so if Lucas has priced the license so high as to make it unprofitable, I wonder how much that is. Odd they would raise the price so much. Props are such a niche hobby, I would think there would really not be much room to inflate the licensing fees for that type of product. Unless Lucas thinks there is a market for $2000 lightsabers.

Ahh! More moola for him that way!

Yeah, at ~100 those FX Sabers are pretty cool and affordable. You might be able to squeeze another $100 out of the die hard fans, but I only bought the one I have because I got it for $65.

To me $50 for a quality Prop replica is great deal and I'm happy to pay it. Just look at the ST:TE Communicator. I still think that's a really nice peice for for the money... and one of the best deals you can find! I do like the MR stuff, and I got the TOS MR Tricorder, but it was pricey! If ST:TE could offer a comperable peice for around $75 I think they woudl have another hit on thier hands!
