All assembled. I plan on putting the wash on it later tonight, hoping it turns out well.

If I don't have it, they never made one.

Looks good so far. Best of luck with the wash. Another technique I use for weathering is dry brushing. It works pretty well.

It was definitely the most complicated model kit I've put together, and I think its the best work I've done out of the few kits I've built. So many pipes.

I'm intrigued to try other types of weathering, but want to get the hand of a simple wash before I do.

Finished the top:

Pretty happy with the results.

I also just purchased the Bandai A-Wing kit, the instructions for it are less than half as long as the Y-Wing's. Can't wait to start working on it.

If there is one thing I've decided after building the Y-Wing, it's that I really want an airbrush so I could have tried some paint work. It seemed like a pretty straightforward paint job.

Finalized building the A-Wing, super simple compared to the Y-Wing.

Started putting on the decals, will try the same wash on it as I did on the Y-Wing.

The bottom all washed. I also figured a clear coat would be a good idea, so I bought a can of spray... clear coat and put that one too.

She's all done.

Very nice. The weathering really makes the details stand out. Model building and painting is so fun. I just finished a couple of sets of the mini BSG vipers and cylons from moebius.

Reddit suggested I try chipping the paint with a torn piece of sponge, so I have it a shot. What do you think?

Did the same thing on the A-Wing, not as sure on this one.

Actually... that's not bad on either one. I need to give that method a try.

That's the video I was linked to that shows someone doing it.

With the wash on the A-Wing it looks much better than it did without it.
