Something I always wondered: was there more than one version of this (rather pointless) accessory? The text on mine has 'Captain's Logs' based on Unification, but were there other versions with different text?

Not that I know of, I have seen quite few examples of it. I wonder if there were versions in different languages?
Similar booklets were included with the space talk figures, though were printed on white paper instead and were similar retellings of iconic Next Generation episodes.
