Its ok, I see what you mean now. Its unfortunate though that it happens. I have talked to a few collectors who got out of it because they blew a few grand on a supposed ultra rare item and it turned out to be a very good reproductions in some way.

A friend of mine has run a toy shop for ten yrs and somebody still got one over on him. They brought in what was thought to be a mint on card original 70's Darth Vader. Everything was 100% right about it while he looked at it during the transaction. He paid $600 for it and one day when he was moving it around vaders light saber slid out of his arm and you could tell it was a fake one because the color wasnt right at all. Then he started dig around the net and found out the card was a reproduction card that is sold on ebay to be nearly 100% original for people who want to recard figures and the only way you can tell its not is by using a magnifying glass. I even looked at it and it had me convinced I mean everything was right about it and then he showed me the imperfections and they are really hard to spot. Con artist are getting better and better at this game.

Perhaps I should have used the word clever, anyway, the point is there aren't supposed to be very many, yet they always seem to be available.

No a dishonest person who doesnt mind committing fraud on people would do that. Its one thing to make copies and say its a copy from an original its quite another to extort people out of their hard earned money by saying its real and giving them the false sense that they have something special. A lot of collectors like myself get to a stage where they are hunting the rare of the rare and would be devastated if they found out something they just dropped a few grand on was a fake.

A smart person would get them, open them, make molds and cast copies, but only a few at a time and pass them off as prototypes on Ebay. Would work as long as he didn't get caught by someone not afraid to open a package.

Im actively collecting playmates on an every weekend basis. I just got the klingon bird of prey and borg sphere a few days ago. Around here and most places I would assume its whats readily available.

I too am after a runabout. I have a guy local who has one and the engineering playset and Im trying to work him over to get him to sell it to me lol. Nearly all the playmates ships I have I got from him for pretty much giveaway prices, he even had the rare voyager, DS9, and enterprise-b ships and I guess hes done with playmates stuff because he sold them to me for nothing. so I should get the runabout and engineering set cheap once I break him lmao.

I really need to get pictures of my collection on here. I have them on my facebook though. I broke the 250 figure milestone the other day and I have 255 figures now. Its mostly playmates, with some art asylum, DST, and appluase pvc figures.

I agree they are expensive but I have seen some sites that sell them for way more.

I agree with Weyoun_9 how many Kirk and Spocks do we really need? I will say the head sculpt does look a little more detailed and thats great but Kirk is Kirk and Spock is Spock. You dont need a dozen Spocks and Kirks lol. I also agree if they move out to other series then I will be interested. I would love for them to release some more Enterprise figures. Such as the Orion slave women from season 4 or even better figures from "in a mirror, darkly". They could even do Xindi. Another possibility is an aliens of the Delta Quadrant series, so they could do heirogens, kazon, ocampa, talaxians etc.

Also for somebody on a shoe string budget $21.99 is a little high. I mean for somebody who has a moderate to high paying job and steady work Im sure its not an issue. Im just giving the poor collector perspective lol. Of course I buy everything from some small toy shops or second hand so that's why $21.99 sounds high to me. Im sure in perspective on the toy market that's pretty inexpensive.
