What series do you like the best

i'll go first. My favorites for the classic franchise before the movie are TOS and TNG.
Although i do love DS9 and Enterprise i grew up watching TNG and i love TOS because well it's the original series because even now it's still very relevant to at least my life - the new movie has just increased that relevancy IMO.
I'm 24, born in 85, a student - prime target for the collectable specialist stores like FPI, i love Trek but I'm turned off by AA/DST and i know a lot of other's who feel the same way.
I myself don't really feel the need to collect vast amounts of figures from either - my cousin on the other hand loves it (which is why a member here is helping me out with the acquisition of TNG figures). I love the DST Enterprise - D and will definitely get it but the figures, as with my mates, i feel there are too many and compared to the higher end 12 inch Hot Toys figures, they don't compete in the level of detail that i like.
Perhaps Trekkers do want every character but i believe they don't, i believe one special item that is made with some care and attention is better than lots of figures that are alright but nothing amazingly great and i think many collectors of Sci-Fi memorabilia feel the same way. My friends would have bought the 18 inch Kirk had it not been so ridiculously thin and probably the Borg figure 7of9 had 7of9 come with a complete alcove on her own.
The thing is myself, my friends and a lot of people i know on my Uni course (we do model making and Model FX so were all pretty geeky and love Sci-Fi) would love to own some Star Trek characters but DST just don't offer us any that we really think are that amazing enough to display.
The D on the other hand, well that's gonna take pride of place on my desk alongside my Hot Toys figures. I just hope someone does a decent 12 inch Picard, Data, Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Movie figures.

I guess I'll have to go with TNG over DS9, because although DS9 has Worf, O'Brien and Sisko and the Dominion War, Picard, Data and Worf through all seven seasons and four movies tips the scale.
And really, I only truly like Kirk from TOS. I enjoy the interaction between Spock and McCoy, but individually I don't like them nearly as much. Oh, and I like Scotty, too.
Oh, and I'm thirty, and technically didn't grow up with any Trek except The Voyage Home. I didn't start watching the other movies or shows until I was in my early 20's.
And I do feel the need to collect almost every and almost character, which I didn't do when I spent two years exclusively collecting Star Wars. Apparently I like Star Trek better than Star Wars now.

Then I started collecting GI Joe Sigma 6 line, and I want almost every one. Started collecting DCUC last year, and I have every thing released so far except for one variant and 2 pack figure, and I intend to get everything else that comes out (although adding Trek to the mix is going to make that difficult).
Similarly, I've been going through the Trek figure reference on New Force Comics and I pretty much want every single one. And I keep thinking of other characters I wish they'd make, like Hugh the Borg.
Except Enterprise, but that's probably only because I haven't seen it. I'd even probably buy a Janeway figure, and I've never seen Voyager. I would get 7 of 9 because she's Borg.
I voted in the first two polls before the third was up, now it won't let me vote in the third. I've tried not to pre-order since I stopped collecting Star Wars, but if that's what it takes to get the toys made, I'll pre-order months in advance.

I also have no interest in the quater scale stuff or even 9" doll stuff. I think they take up too much space that I just dont have, are usually too expensive, and almost never complete crews. Once agin though if people want them Im all for companies producing them.
I think it is a outright travesty that DST isnt producing VOY figures.

Recently 32, and DS9 is easily my favorite. Going against all Trek trends and fans, TOS is easily my least favorite. But, I do buy everything and will continue to do so until the bitter end.
The one cut back I can foresee is that I've been buying 2 of everything- one to open, one to keep - but with all the reissues I think I'll be stopping that. I doubt I'll get any of the two-pack TOS reissues.

I enjoy collecting Trek, and especially items with realistic and accurate details (figures, props and ships). The only series that I won't purchase much of is Voyager; with the exception of 7 of 9, the Doc, and Voyager the ship. I won't purchase re-issues unless it has a significant upgrade of some kind, and I no longer preorder because lately, I prefer to see the finished product before committing.

I'm 31...I can't believe that TNG came out almost 22 years ago...and had to list it at my favorite because that was what I was brought up on. I can remember watching "Skin of Evil" over a plate of Spaghetti-O's watching at 10 years old in shock as they killed off my favorite character. I remember the horror of waiting an entire summer to find out what will happen to Captain Picard.
As a cohesive series, I would say DS9 is technically my favorite...mainly because the characters have a journey and the series developed into an arc, which I love. SO, for different reasons I guess it's a tie but TNG wins because it came first.
Next I'd say Voyager, although only half of the characters are truly interesting to me. Janeway, Torres, Seven, the EMH and Paris for a while. I thought that Neelix, Kes, Kim, Chakotay and Tuvok were wasted potential for the most part. I also think the network's fear of changing Star Trek's format kept Voyager from reaching a level of quality and new storytelling it could have reached. There are some gems, but it is inconsistent.
I still haven't watched all of TOS. Several of them, but not all. I respect the history and the relevancy to the 60's that the TOS has, and I really enjoy the movies, but many of the episodes are laughable even with the tweaked effects. Shatner's acting didn't improve until the films. I'm grateful he was not in the new film and hope that trend continues.
I have to say Enterprise was the worst. Characters were knock off's of other characters (T'Pol was Spock/Seven; Trip was McCoy; Archer was Kirk-like; Sato was Bashur/Uhura, Phlox was Neelix, Mayweather and Reed were just boring). Again, it was a case where the potential for great storytelling was there...and they blew it with the Temporal Cold War. Season 4 was really pretty strong...finally...but who was still watching? I didn't see any of it until it came out on DVD.
Regarding some of the other questions...I only buy figures because I have display cases I can put them in. Ships are way to big and my husband would go crazy...we live in a one bedroom condo. Maybe when we have more money and can have a house I'll get a playroom.
I would hope that either DST/AA or Playmates would take note of this. I don't pre-order from lack of interest, but because DST/AA cannot keep their schedule remotely on track and I cannot afford to budget indefinitely for their products. I'm happy with their quality for the most part and would continue to purchase products...however their choices are questionable and their inability to provide complete crews and additional characters is troubling. When I consider the "new molds" that have been created for the existing figure lines...and imagine what would have happened if those new molds had been used for aliens and secondary characters...it kind of makes me sad.
I would have gladly traded the six AGT characters for Tasha Yar, Guinan, Pulaski, Quark, Dukat, and a Bajoran Kira. I like the AGT...but new characters would have been a better choice in my opinion. Same goes for the Mirror figures. Maybe for both lines (AGT/Mirror) they could have included one at a time as part of other releases.
Sigh...I just hope that maybe the sculptors and scale can be continued in some fashion...maybe Playmates can buy them out or partner. I probably will buy more, but I'd rather not have to scrap the investment I've made.

1) TNG/VOY (depends on what day you ask)
2) DS9
3) ENT
4) TOS
At this point I would absolutely buy any and everything (even Tech items, which I normally don't collect) that DST would produce from TNG, VOY, and DS9. Unless they made a $3000 Picard Chair replica, that is... ;P Since I am currently a "completist" w/figures, I also would buy any *new* TOS/ENT figures -- but I avoid the Tech. But obviously my desire for any TOS figures is far far lower than the rest.

Anyhow, my preference for figures leans more towards 3 3/4". That would probably be because of all the Star Wars figures I've collected over the years. I do however love what DST is doing with ships and tech. I am more selective with the 7" figures, seldom get the variants and never preorder. I just want complete crews with at least a generic alien in each wave to have something representative of all the various alien races.
I have no favorite series, I love the whole Star Trek mythology. I have been saying for years this should be a Legacy line encompassing all of Star Trek and not just trying to concentrate on one area or show at a time. The company that finally realizes this is the one that will win my loyalty and in the end get my money.
