Jeff W.

Will you be doing USS Defiant and Runabout Rio Grande anytime soon?

DSTChuck: I would not use the word "soon."

What so, a year and a half to two years?! :P ;)

Can't wait to find out the ships. Lots of hints in there that a lot of the ships we thought were off the table, are now back on the table. K't'inga getting a lot of love - that's the ship I'd want most behind the Defiant. :)

I think the Defiant could get me back into the ships line. To be honest, after the demise of the figures it took (and takes) way too long for DST to get new product out. So I guess I fall in line with a lot of consumers in that if there isn't something there to keep my attention it wanders elsewhere (one hates to admit to conformity, but it is what it is!). It was fun when there were always new figures to look forward to and kept you in the game more, as it were. I would buy all the variants of ships.. now I don't even remember if I got any BoP. I think the basic one..?

IF it is released,I too might get it. But I'm more of an Enterprise J guy,a ship they'll most likely never release, lol! Guess it's the ONE EM ship I'll buy,MAYBE one other.

I wonder if it will be a brand new mold or if they are going to use the AMT model as a base? The Excelsior/E-B seemed to be spot on to the AMT one in size.

If they use the AMT version (season 5 CG/Voyager version), then I'll get one, as I want a big Defiant.

If they base it off the season 7 version CGI, or the studio model, then it'll be an instant buying three, and any variants depending on coolness, not joking!

For the record, I am watching season 5 as we speak. It was season 6 that they switched to that god awful CGI model. The damn thing has plagued Trek merchandise since the 90's.

I don't care which version it is. I will get any version of the defiant if they make one.

I tend to agree. While I would much prefer the studio model version, I would still buy one if it was based off the CGI version.

Ah nice dude. I think the reason I say Season 5 is because I've gotten mixed up reading that it was commissioned during Season 5. But yeah, the one that is used for the Valiant, and the escort in the Prometheus episode of Voyager. :)

Long, thin nose, and parallel nacelles. Won't stop me getting one, but if it was one of the other two (nice fat nose, and swept back nacelles), then man I'd be so happy. wlEmoticon-fingerscrossed.png

Found a picture (that I posted last year, terrible memory lol) that compares the worst CG model, to a schematic/drawing of the studio model, taken from the DS9 technical manual:

Nose is way too thin, and the whole 'swept-back' look is almost completely lost. Like I said, I'd still get one, as it's my favourite ship. But if it it was the one on the right, or even the better CG version (used in season 7), then yeah, I'd be having a few right off the bat. :)

We're all getting excited for the Defiant, but not mentioning that this is 2 askDSTs that the runabout has been hinted at.

Watch one of them be the Rio Grande or something, would piss me off a bit if it is since other ships are more deserving.

JMW, to be honest man, I think it's because 90% of every model or toy ever produced, has been that one CG version. Apply a statistic like that to the original Enterprise, and you can imagine how much uproar there'd have been. Although Eaglemoss have already given me a nice version now, I'd love to have a big one that isn't based off of the one above on the left. It's not like I have an alternative, either. There's no model kits that are of a large size, that are based off of the studio model, or the later CG version. I'd have no problem with taking my time to make myself one from a model kit, but the only one available is...well you catch my drift. lol

Spoiler tagged so as not to take up a whole page:

Alteran, if that was true, my reaction would be this:

I'd love a Runabout - heck, I'd buy two (Rio Grande, and an Orinoco with sensor pod), but above a Defiant/Voyager, well! :D

I understand about wanting the studio model version. I hope that is the one that gets made too. It would be great to have it. But I will buy the other one if thats the one they do too. At this point I think its a 50/50 shot on which one they do if that is the ship they are going to do. I love the Defiant. All versions of her.
