It's my favourite ship, and the difference between the two versions, are equivalent to the differences between Formula One cars. Yes, you instantly recognise any of them as an F1 car, but if you want a model Ferrari, and you get a McLaren or Red Bull painted in Ferrari colours, well surely you can understand?
I realise it's a similar situation with the DST 1701-D. That one is based off the 4-foot miniature, and not the really nice 6-foot original. However, I don't really notice the difference, so it doesn't bother me, but to those who do, I can understand. The thing is as well, I realise that if they are using the AMT kits as the basis for them, especially as a cost-saving measure, then I don't feel I could complain anyway, as I still find it unbelievable that they're making ships from a show that ended fifteen years ago or more. Thus, I'm getting it regardless. The only reason I'd be buying a few if they did swerve away from that one version, would be to firstly, give them my support, and secondly, allow me to customise them!
