I'd say it was budget issues... but it can't be that expensive to come up with a few different CGI designs.

It probably is budget, which is unfortunate.
It just makes the show look cheap when its literally the same ship copy and pasted with a different scale.
I wouldn't need drastic differences, just some variety.

Adrianne Palicki has a pretty impressive set of pipes.

Yep. I think they been building it up that he sings... maybe in another episode. But thats the kinda Macfarlane Humor that works... in fact the last few episodes, they seem to have backed off the dick jokes and gotten a bit more refined... which is a welcome direction to me.

Yeah, they've backed off the dick jokes in favor of returning to the alien who ejaculates out his forehead. Very refined. It was still a pretty good episode except for that scene where Yaphit's in peril at the hands of Claire. That cleared itself up pretty quickly.

did they say if was supposed to be forehead ejaculation? or what it was? I assumed that maybe it was a self defense thing when placed in a panicked situation... sort of like squid ink... but I could be wrong... mostly I assume MacFarlane left it vague so you can take it where you want... if you wanna be in the gutter... then ok... again thats my take.. but I could have missed something!

This isn't high theater. I'm considering the source and taking it at face value.

I thought the same as you. It clearly happens immediately after he is caught two different times now.did they say if was supposed to be forehead ejaculation? or what it was? Both times he was having sex. Both times he was in heat. He admitted that it's rude in his culture to turn down sex. This character is all about intercourse.
He didn't squirt on any other occasion when he was startled, like when he stepped in Lt. Yaphit.
Besides, Darulio and the blue ooze coming out of his head seems inspired by Jason Derulo and his song "Swalla," a ballad about semen.
(Okay, that last one's a stretch but... well, there it is.)

wow, that means there are only a few more episodes left in the season? I suppose its for financial reasons? Close out the books on the end of the quarter?
The reason for the change is likely due to scheduling. Since the series was never envisioned as a 22-episodes-per-season show, Fox probably wanted to squeeze the entire season into the calendar year rather than leave a few episodes for after the break or in mid-December after other shows have exhausted their new episodes for the year.

Agreed.
I enjoyed it quite a bit, wasn't expecting something like it from this show.
It seems like they've definitely found their footing, and hope it continues the same style its had going into season 2.

Yeah, that was some serious character development, while giving us a but of a fright.
Dang clowns! Killer clowns from outer space!
In the end it still was upbeat and very positive.

Another solid episode. It's like a blast from the past, very familiar and very comfortable. It makes it predictable but it's still fun.
Who had the fear of alligators? Bortus' line got me to chuckle.
