Yeah... Its a fun show... and with the gags they are doing, it def has a different vibe than TNG... not nearly as serious... but wow.. watch DISCO and it back to back... and I think I prefer what we just saw in DISCO! and... that surprises even me!

Its certainly a good, fun show, but I don't feel as invested in it this season as I did last season.

Discovery this time has gotten me far more invested, and if something terrible happened and one of these shows got cancelled, i'd be more upset if it were Discovery than it being The Orville.

I feel there is more potential with Discovery.

Ratings have come up slightly over the last couple episodes, but not significantly.

Episode 5 was one of the best of the season thus far. In true Trek style it used something that we would see as obviously ridiculous as an allegory.

Agreed, its definitely a good one, not sure if I liked this one or the one about Alara or not more.

After not caring that much for the first 3 episodes, I have missed the latest 2.

However I was just reading a review of episode 5 and......  what?  New security chief...same race as the last one?  And when we just had an episode where the last one was made to look different and pioneering in her race for her choice of profession?  Seems a bit self-undermining and also lazy...like the only thing they can think of to make their security chief character interesting is for them to be strong.  Even after that gimmick was already wearing thin on the last one.

Ok, I'll watch it first before whining any further.

Season 2 Episode 5 wasn't bad...but I just kept thinking how I'd rather be watching the one where Data tries having a girlfriend...

It was a very good episode, probably the best of the series so far.

Yeah, this changed the tone and ramped up the show.

Part of me agrees with Alteran195...

I don't think the Orville team is going to put quite as much thought into this as you guys have, let's remember at the end of the day it's basically made it clear that it wants to be a rom-com.

I am definitely interested to see what happens though!

most likely we are overthinking it... but... it has the fans all a buzz! and pretty much good buzz... sure we'll pick at it... but I think most who've seen this latest episode really went "whoa! Where are we going wit this??!!" It really has viewers engaged, which is a good thing!

Ratings seem to have reached a plateau, although they're dipping a bit the last couple episodes.

Overall ratings – including later DVR viewings – are down from last season. It does look like it's found its core audience. Whether or not that's good enough to continue is up to Fox.

I used to watch it on Hulu but I've missed the last few episodes. Too many other shows I'd prefer to watch.
