people who've got this, do you think its worth the money you paid for it?

To me the sides of the chair look far too narrow, I'd have expected some nice carpet on the base as per the real chair too.

Hmm, it looks clean, well made but these errors for a

It might not be perfect, but it's times like this that I wish I was a multi millionaire. If I were, I'd buy two of them. One, to keep in the box; the other to watch TV and Trek in; and to also eat my dinner in. That would be sweet! smile.gif

Very cool. I'll never get it. I just don't have the room (speaking of which, anyone want a Frostmourne replica from World of Warcraft - LOL) I gotta say, I agree that it running on batteries seems WAY more preferable than having to plug it in or something.

Saw a message in PlayTrek that someone who had a captain's chair received theirs and it had cracked paint and some other issues. He talked with DST and they were addressing how to resolve it without having to ship the chair back (e.g., possibly repair paint and replacement parts). Wonder if this is an isolated incident or more widespread? huh.gif

No, I didn't order one. My buddy has one and I hope to make it over this weekend to inspect it. He's pleased with his. I'll take pix and vids whenever I see it and share. I didn't order one primarily due to the price and lack of detailed info/specs on what one was getting. Anyway, look forward to seeing his. As a side issue, I thought it funny that roddenberry.com found it necessary to post a "weight limit" with their chair. cool.gif

I made it over to my buddy's house today and saw his DST TOS captain's chair. It's awesome. Has a bunch of sounds (Kirk speaking orders, sound effects of ship, bridge controls, etc.), I'd say about 30 different ones (that's a guess). The lights looked good, too. The batteries/control is hidden under the speaker and only that side of the chair has lights. The first two buttons control the random sound FX. His tv room is under construction right now, so the chair is sitting in one of the garages at his house.

Here's a few pix.

No idea, but it's full-sized like the one in the tv series.

To me this seems like one of those "having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting..." items. I really wish I had one. I really, really wish I knew someone who had one, but I suspect that if I were to actually get one, if I could even afford it, the little 10-year old inside me would have great fun for 15 minutes pretending to be Captain Kirk, and then it would just a big honkin' piece of expensive furniture that I wouldn't know what to do with. I don't even have any friends who like Star Trek enough to show it off to...

... reality aside, that is darn, darn cool. I know DST regards TNG as the kiss of death, but I would love to see them make a TNG captain's chair someday. smile.gif

A TNG Captian's Chair is pretty plain...and wouldn't really have too many things to play with.

The Enterprise-E chair, though, that'd be good stuff. biggrin.gif

Wow. I think both DST and FHC's look great!

I thought about getting one, but alas, this sums it up for me at the moment...

I think if I had a house with a home theater that I could incorporate it into it would be cool. But I don't.

If you have the tools and the time, I built mine for under $300.00 with full sound and lights. Less then shipping for most people. But, I bet if you paid someone by the hour it would be cheaper to just order the thing!!! LOL I can't wait to see a DST one in person. Anyone know how sales are going?

The flash throws it off, but our colors are really close.

If I had any carpentry skills I'd definitely take a stab at building myself one. I love the feeling of having built something yourself than simply buying it.
