I do not do the preorder thing. I like to have the option to order from who i want when stock shows up, and i can see prices and all. I dont like to be left hanging for months or years at a time, then find out that the place i ordered from is the last place to get the stuff and may have a higher price that the next guy. I just like the freedom to do that. Call it disloyal if you want to, i call it keeping the ball in my court. DST shoudnt be using preorders to judge demand and if they do, they are probably misjudging themselves out of a lot of business. Out of all of the more than 150 figures, retro figures, statues and ships and role playing items i have bought from them, i dont think any of it was preordered. If they have been judging by preorders that i dont buy from them just because i havent preordered anything, its a wonder they are still in business. Wake up DST and produce some Star Trek figures and quit looking at preorders.

On the flipside of the coin, DST, look at the preorders that TRU has gotten for Kang and Romulan and get the figures made and in the stores and in the peoples hands that want them.

Got word back from my contact at DST. The wave is NOT canceled! Woo Hoo!

But he also has no idea why they are canceling pre-orders this early....

I'm thinking it may have just been that they weren't paying much attention to pre-order/inventory ratio figures since the first two waves didn't sell out until after they were listed as in stock. So, the ordeal with so many Kang pre-orders being canceled last minute may have sent up a red flag to make them check up on wave 4 only to realize that pre-orders already hit their estimate for online inventory.

I think your giving them too much credit for being organized. Most likely the computer just automatically started canceling orders...

Exact wording? TOS Wave 5 is also "not canceled", but we all know by now it isn't coming anytime soon (if ever)...

Exact quote:

I have no idea what's going on behind the scenes at TRU.com but that wave of Star Trek figures (including the Romulan) are not canceled at all.

Heh. Well, the emphatic-sounding "at all" at the end makes that sound a bit more promising than it might have otherwise, but the lack of any additional details still leaves us hanging in uncertain suspense.

Much like DST with the releases on its website, ToysRus just might be pulling the next line of Star Trek figures right at the last minute. Series 4 was scheduled to be released on January 4th. On January 1st, Kirk was pulled from their website, after being up for pre-order for months. Romulan and Scotty remain listed but still 'out of stock'.

Words can't express how crushed I am about this. sad.gif I've been waiting almost exactly a year for this figure. sad.gif I called ToysRus about this and I was politely told by someone sincerely trying to help me that I should try to call back during regular business hours. Apparently people working during those hours might have access to a little more information about what's going on with this line, so I will call them again at that time. I will try to get to the bottom of this.

In case anyone cares, I called ToysRus to ask them why Kirk was pulled from the website less than a week before his original scheduled release date (today) and nobody could tell me anything. I also sent a pretty pissed off e-mail to DST asking them directly when it will come out and expressing frustration over their constantly delaying or cancelling items immediately before their release. If they post it at all in their next Q & A, it would take some real ingenuity (which I wouldn't put past them) to dodge the questions like they usually do. I've been vague before (i.e. what are the chances of this figure coming out?) but this is the first time I directly asked them "WHEN DOES IT COME OUT?".

Beyond that, there isn't much I can do. It's been crazy waiting like 12 months for an action figure. I almost curse the day I bought my first Art Asylum figure and got all excited about the pictures they showed of upcoming releases. I think it was about October 2008, and not a single new figure I'm interested in has come out since. Now I've caught up on all the old figures I could possibly be interested in and they've left me hanging waiting for a new Kirk and Spock to buy. Anyway, I appreciate everybody here expressing some of the same frustrations. It's helped make DST's actions a little easier to cope with knowing others are in the same boat.
