#91388 Looking for a good model builder. Any ideas?

Posted by Stormfury_Echo on 29 September 2017 - 08:21 AM

Theres a gentleman on Facebook named Scott Trusty. He's one of the best builders Ive ever seen and he's a good friend. He also has very reasonable pricing. Hes an honest to form professional builder.
I was working with OtherWorld Models for a time, but he was having difficulty getting any projects completed. I took my business to Scott, and he's currently building me a Colonial Viper Mk. II complete with lighting, photo etch, and a custom base. I have some beautiful Work In Progess photos that I cant seem to upload from my phone. You can find me on Facebook, and Ill happily share them. Message me for my info.

#87281 NECA announces a new small vehicle/diorama line called 'CINEMACHINES'

Posted by Stormfury_Echo on 22 September 2016 - 09:58 PM

The Derelict is the only one I don't have displayed and I'll tell you why. I felt it was a missed opportunity. This is the only one that came with an acrylic stand. Wrong. It should have come with a base made to look like a bed of rock.
The color was a decent attempt, but when I get around to making a base for it that I'm happy with, I may put a dull coat on it to make it less....cheery.

#85215 eFX Millennium Falcon

Posted by Stormfury_Echo on 22 March 2016 - 05:57 AM

After just shy of a decade, it looks like this is finally happening. I received a reply to the inquiry that I sent to eFX over the weekend.

"These will be available for pre-order within the next month. .  We are still
working out the final manufacturing details, including price, with the
factory"

That was copied and pasted from my email reply. Personally, I'm very excited for this!

#83332 Pro's Next Project: Revell Force Awakens T-70 X-Wing

Posted by Stormfury_Echo on 02 November 2015 - 11:51 AM

Will do. I also have a Bandai 1/48 Moving Edition X-wing fighter that's going on a custom Death Star base, the Falcon and 1/72 Bandai T-70 X-wing accompanied by the Bandai T-65 X-wing. Because as Fez from That 70's Show once said, "They look so nice together."

#82366 Ask DST #285

Posted by Stormfury_Echo on 06 August 2015 - 12:24 PM

Hello, Chuck. :)

To further respond to the bit about what ship is next after the Romulan Bird of Prey, I think the reason most of us have been so keen to know what the Federation ship will be, is because we've been told for a long time now that there are two ships in development. I doubt anyone will ask you what's next (for at least a little while) after you've released the name of it...

On the off chance you do see this, may I make a request? Should you ever make the Defiant at some point in the future, could you please make her look like the studio model/later CG version (like Round 2 have done with their tiny 1/2500 model, or Eaglemoss with their version), as it isn't any different in terms of volume, but looks infinitely better. ;)

Just to be clear, though, the studio model is alway preferred. :D

For the most part I think Reliant would have to have custom parts. The nacelles MIGHT be able to be used, but I can't tell if they were bigger on Reliant.

They're longer.

#81331 Star Trek III Phaser

Posted by Stormfury_Echo on 31 May 2015 - 12:24 PM

If anybody remembers Captain Berns from the old Art Asylum Forums and early Trektoy days, he's probably tickled pink that this is being released. That guy went on about this phaser for a really long time lol.

Yup, and if my grandmother had wheels she'd be a wagon lol. Good looking ship, though.

The NX-01s paint job is definitely better... There are now two colors of aztek paneling instead of just one and the red on the saucer is more defined.... With LEDs and the better paint this thing could really shine!

I've always found the exterior of the AA/DST NX-01 to be pretty spot on. The only real issue I had with it was the garbly sound effects. The wheat of grain bulbs actually didn't bother me. I'm tempted to get this rerelease.

#79021 Latest ship info on AskDST

Being that the assumption lies heavily in favor of the Reliant, I hope they get the sculpt on it as well as they did the Refit/A. The one nuance that I see missed more times than not is the angle of the nacelle pylons. Most manufacturers have them coming straight down off of the primary hull. In fact, they slant outward slightly. It's those little details that create a beautiful sculpt.

The BOP wasn't terribly long, it's those wings that give her such size. I think a Defiant in scale with the BOP would be awesome.
