With the TOS ENT coming out really soon, word on the street is that if it sells well, we could possibly see variants like the PILOT version and 2nd PILOT version. Thomas Sasser, master modelmaker, did the POLAR LIGHTS TOS ENTERPRISE and cant be pinned down for a direct yes or no, but some online retailers are offering the variant ships. Needless to say, I dont see it outside the realm of possibility. In truth, it makes alot of sense, just hope DST keeps supporting STAR TREK. I have nothing against TNG, DS9 or VOY or ENT, but I would really love to see this happen. Hard to believe that the 1701-A refit is selling well over the 75$ mark from just a little under 2 years ago.

Hey all,

If you do a search on play.com under Gadgets it lists both Pilot versions of the ship but no mention of the regular version. Anyone have any news on this?

Thanks.

Take care,

Any variants that would be released soon would have to be produced in the same production run as the regular 1701 and DST said in one of the recent Q&As that they don't have any plans to produce the variants that were discussed earlier. Unless they were trying to keep any variants a secret, I think it may be too late to add any to the production run. The ships are due out by the end of this month or the beginning of November.

The only other possibilities is if the 1701 does so well that it warrants a second production run with a variant or two tagged on or if there are going to be two or more variant releases and all of them are produced together in a one run of just the variants.

Any variants would be made in a relatively small run and there is virtually no chance that a variant would be produced in a run by itself due to the minimum quantities that are needed for any production run.

The previous ideas of a transluscent "Tholian Web" Defiant and a battle damaged Connie of some kind like a "Doomsday Machine" Constellation are both good and both could be made in a run by themselves. It would also be nice, as someone else mentioned, if somthing like a USS Exeter could be added in with the run for the Starship Exeter web series. That's three variants right there that could be combined into one run.

I would not get my hopes up over any ship variants any time soon. The Enterprise-E did not do as well as DST hoped and if the TOS Enterprise doesn't make a big splash then I think we may have seen the last of Trek ships for a while.

Unfortunate, but true.  And, even more unfortunately, a very likely possibility.

They need to make a different ship then the "Enterprise". Those ships have been beat to death. I know there are collectors that do not have the Enterprise but a new direction is needed. Let's start with the Klingon D7 Battle Cruiser!!

If they do go forward I see them as follows: (not the the way I would do it but most likely).
Not necasarily in this order either.

Enterpise-D
Defiant
Voyager
DS9 (possibly)

If I had my way it would be:

Defiant
Voyager
Excelsior
Enterpise-c

I really don't care if they do many versions of the TOS enterprise but this is one that I would buy a Battle damaged version of (don't ask why).
