Some fans will want Wood. Complaining about a bonus figure makes no sense to me. The scope of figures released in the Buffy DST lines has been nothing short of admirable. While they've definetly got a long way to go to represent Angel fully, they've made nearly everyone worth making in the Buffy line with a couple small exceptions. Wood is ONE of those small exceptions. Its not like they are dedicated to making 5 varients of Wood and several box sets with him. He's going to get what? One figure. Maybe another in a box set? What's the fuss over? Its one thing to wish another one-shot got made but quite another to suggest that Wood replaces a core character. They've got exactly two core characters from Buffy who hasn't gotten a figure made or planned and that's Riley and Andrew. Not exactly fan favorites, last I checked. Some fans want them, but not everyone. Some fans will want Wood.

Bemoaning a bonus figure is just not especially productive. Wishing they did Gunn before Oz would be more reasonable, but still not a complaint worthy of the doom and gloom being suggested. There are plenty of reasonable explanations, after all. (Oz would likely sell very well, after all) Wood isn't replacing Gunn. He probably isn't even replacing Riley or Harmony who both warrent more varients than Robin Wood. He's a one-shot. The Buffy version of Barcaly. A nice bonus, but not a harbinger of bad things. The scope of existing figures from DST for Buffy and Angel have been amazing. Doing Wood allows them to continue their run of figures from the series finale. Sounds like something they are doing for Star Trek, actually. Since when is making a figure of an obscure character seen as fan unfriendly? Because some fans would prefer another obscure character? Re-use figures like Q, Ro, Ogawa, and Barclay aren't replacing Q in robes or Guinan or the cast of Voyager. They are just bonuses. Those other figures may or may not get made, but its NOT because they made Lt. Barclay using existing parts.

I've never watched an episode of Buffy... so I just have to point out that all the references to "Wood" are comming off with a slightly pornographic air to me ohmy.gif

Bad Gothneo ... bad! Down boy! laugh.gif ROBIN Wood was a character added to the last season or so of Buffy as the new principal. He was more a spoil for Spike than anything else - Spike killed Wood's slayer mother when he was a child.

I am truely surprised to see him listed in 19 episodes. He didn't seem that prominent to me.

I am starting to see BStu's point. He is a one shot that we might not be able to get otherwise. I won't be totally disappointed in this figure UNLESS they skip past some of the others that I have mentioned. If I were the only one worried about this info, though, I could be truely convinced its not bad.

I was just unpacking my Playmates figures and realized my early collecting was so much simpler. Some of these figures were fairly not good and scale - forget about it. LOL

Anyway, I will watch and hope that things are good for rest of these lines. Trek and Buffy.

That's me, always the last one to show up. I'm kind of glad this thread is turning around and Jules, there are plenty of places your fellow members can recommend that ship internationally and save you some trouble wink.gif I know that some groan about Wood, just like some groan about Wesley, Thomas Riker or Ogawa. But I'm looking forward to him. I too was a member of MAC Collectors Club and have some of figures, but not all of them. Which is why I'm kind of glad DST is rebooting some of the characters. With the exception of the Angel Faith, MAC never really captured the characters likeness. Since they're doing Wood, I hope this means I might see Gunn down the line.

But I know from rumor control DST is still not planning on hooking the brother up. But he and Wood share a similiar body type, all they'd need is a new head sculpt. Something I've realized in talking with DST lately, they kind of have a hard sell ahead when it comes to these lines. As it's only the fans really buying these things and unfortunately it's not enough to always sell to the buyers of the merchandise. Others have pointed out, using the same parts for various figures is rampant in any line for the most part. Even the big boys do it, so it's only logical for DST and some of the smaller companies to do the same. While I would love for some secondary character to be made, give me my bridge crew first wink.gif

One of the things that turned me off about the Playmates line was that they made so many secondary (and useless imo)charaters. I don't want to see DST's line go in that direction.

blink.gif

Wow...without the extra 'useless' characters (I love how people see the need to use the most insulting terms to describe their opinion!!)...my interest in Trek/Buffy action figures would slide right down.

For starters...I don't see how an action figure is either useful or useless.....A Picard figure has no more use to me than an Ogawa...I cannot use either to fix my leaking toilet or mend my shoes! biggrin.gif

Secondly, I don't see how any of those characters could even be seen as useless...Ro often drove the ship, Q was a main foe for years & where would the chief medical officer be without a nurse?

I got into Playmates Trek figures as they released soo many of the supporting cast. I hope that practise never dies.

Ok, so I am not exactly opening up the Prediction of Doom per se, but here is what happened with the current line of Buffy figures ...

I had this happen to one of Dawn figures as well, but blamed it on myself. I hope that this is just a manufacturing mistake and a one time deal. DST is replacing the figures, but a lot of the BTVSfigs members are hot over their figures being broken right out the package ... including myself as the picture is of my own figures.

Wow. that's alot of breakage...

I had my Capt Pike break... I got a replacement and I was going to send to the Chair to someone whose had broken... and when I took the chair out of the package (Since I had only removed the Pike) the Chair broke!

So I was glad to get a replacement, but I decided to leave it in the box.

My StarGate Jackson figures hand broke off and his jacket came unglued as well. Most of the Buffy stuff that I have bought online have had some pretty bad paint apps too. I also had to snap my FC Picards lower torso onto the upper torso when I got it out of the package. I think that a little quality control may be in order here. DST has some great products, they just need to work on getting them to stay that way once you get them home.

(and yes I do take them out of the packages very gently).

Thanks for the effort of getting the chair to me. I am going to drill the hole out so I can mount the viewer back in.
