I would gather that the pic is probably something DST had her sign at SDCC for promo pics like the one they posted on their site. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I found this reference to the Uhura signed figure at Figures.com, which makes a point out of saying that the figure IS signed underneath the plastic for authenticity, so apparently the one pictured is the only one signed on the outside of the package bubble. Figures.com

I like the signed stuff that DST is doing, and as FHC said, at least some of the money goes to the actors.

Well, if you had her sign it at SDCC, then it would be on the outside, so that would be a way to differentiate them.... and you probably need one of those FHC .-)
