Hi, everyone!

A while ago, I picked up a DST Ro Laren figure on EBay and I pulled it out the other day to see if I could do anything with it. So after a lot of musing here, I would ask two questions of you all:

1) am I alone in thinking that this is a terrible figure? When I stand her next to Male figures, she stands taller than them, which makes her at least 6 feet tall. Her head is definitely oversized in comparison to her body and her legs are ridiculously long.......but that's just my opinion....

2) is this figure, bad as it is, in any way rarer/pricier than other figures, or is it just run of the mill like a TOS Scotty figure?

I would appreciate any help before I cut it up.

I actually like it a lot. I thought it was one of the better female figures.

I like it too myself, I thought it was a pretty cool figure and looked A LOT like Michelle. as for her being rare....not so much. I have like 6 of them. Amazon was selling them for like .99 a while back go i picked up like 5

I didn't mean valuable in a monetary sense....more a case of would she be difficult to replace is all. But now I know, thanks to you guys, that there's no problem on that score. :)

I think I am going to disassemble her to see just to see if I can turn her into a B'lanna Torres. That would require some leg shortening though so I may look for a better candidate.

You can probably get away with just swapping the lower torso and legs from one of the shorter figures on to her. I did that with either Kira or Ogawa a while back and it worked out pretty well.

Well, she has now been carefully but completely disassembled. I will be moulding all the individual parts, including the hoop hinges and then I will reassemble the cast parts into a figure that I can sand flat and use as a base to sculpt new female figures onto. I am confident I can put her back together afterwords with no ill affects...famous last words :lol

I don't think its a terrible difficult figure to get for a decent price. I want to say Ezri-Dax is one of the hardest to get. That being said, later runs of Trek are in lower numbers then early TOS runs, so there are likely fewer of them out there... but there also isn't allot of demand.

As for the figure itself, I think, as discussed endlessly on the forum pages, most felt the line over all suffered from re-use, but realized that it was the only way for it to put forth any product at all.

I actually think the head sculpt is a decent effort. If I recall correctly, they used the Dr Crusher buck. Mcfaden was 5"7 and Forbes was 5"9 (which is pretty tall for a lady), and they do have a similar body style, so I don't know that it was the worst choice for the buck.

Since these are really supposed to be in a 7", if anything, I think some of the men are undersized. Probably starting with basic buck used for Data, Obrien, and others.

Spiner is 5"10, so If you line up Ro to Data, it *should* be slightly shorter to be in scale.

Ezri isn't too hard to get, she's just incredibly expensive. Ro,on the other hand,is pretty cheap. 7 bucks on Amazon. I have neither, and doubt I ever will. Not because I don't like the figures,I'm just not a completist. I have a lot of figures and still get the ones that just screams BUYME!!! when I walk past them on the shelf. Or they just look cool and fun on display. Plain and simple, lol. I still get the good ol' Playmates figs even, lol!

Well... if you're not going to put a price limit on anything, then most stuff is easy to get!

True that! But despite that,I still have some holy grails. They really ARE hard to find, and I don't even DARE think of the price for those, lol! Not just Trek related though, fortunately.

Yeah Ezri was a B**** to get, and I bet 10 to 1 I wouldn't have her unless someone on the board didn't happen to find an extra one for me. And even then it took forrrrrever to find her. I used to go to Ebay EVERY Day looking for one and didn't get her.

Sadly I am doing the same thing now with TOS Wave 5 and TWOK Series 2 these days. I don't have either of them, and at the time couldn't afford em now I have a better job and can splurge a little bit from time to time.
