The BoP goes for far less than $199 now. A couple recently went for $85. Most go for $120.

VF, will you be getting the Batmobile? If so, I'm excited to have you back in the toy-collecting fold, regardless of whose product it is. (I'm also envious, as I have neither the room nor the budget!) I hope you are able to get one at retail price, since you were saying it is sold out at TRU.

And if you just think the Batmobile justifies its price more than the BoP, that's totally understandable, but it doesn't take into account plastic quality, production quantity and differences in licensor agreements. Also, this is a mainline product, one everybody buying the Batman line would conceivably want, while the BoP variant was not as appealing to fans who wanted lights and paint, or owned another version. Really, the only thing these two have in common is the price.

Yes, i did pick up a batmobile, and the Batman and Robin "TV moments" set, which is the only way to get a Robin so far. That set comes with a building wall with a couple of windows and the Batrope for the Caped Crusaders to climb up. You can pose the figures for that set or use them with the batmobile. I think the Batmobile looks awesome for the price point. There is a lot of detail that the old Mego Batmobile didnt have. Now i need a Batcave playset! Ohh, and since TRU was out of stock in my area, i got one from ebay for about 6 dollars higher than retail price, so no complaints about that because i didnt have to burn the gas to go the store to pick it up.

Shame Batman and Robin are sold separately, and odd that Robin ONLY comes with Batman!

It's such a fan-friendly piece, I would not be surprised if Mattel does an exclusive version for SDCC. Curious how they'll make it different. Special "Batcave" box with lights and sounds? Figures included, of course.

We're starting to talk about what we want to do for SDCC. We may do another ship, we'll see.

I'm thinking the USS Sao Paulo (Defiant variant) would be a great SDCC exclusive...limited to 75,633 (kind of a reverse take on the 1701 Playmates fiasco)

:D

Sorry, BBM, I'll recommend making more than 200, but more than 500? That would really depend on what it is.

lol, I meant more than 200, 500 would be a great number for another ship. Since the sheer fact that they were sold out by 9:30 AM on Thursday morning you could easily sell 500 at the con. As long as it was some cool variant, like a "Glow in the dark" Classic U.S.S. Defiant like the Hallmark Ornimate. Or something like that. I personally LOVE the cloaked BoP myself.

I know DST has done this in the past with Marvel Select at SDCC, where you use the basic base and make an alternate character like Spider Woman.

I'm wondering if there is an opportunity to do something similar since most Star Trek outfits are the same.

And DST def made more than 500 of those exclusives... and made them readily available to collectors. One Idea off the top of my head is 7 of 9, simply because she had a number of different "cat suites" that you could make an alternate version color and different head of.

now this is what i would have rather had from the SDCC than that cheap looking Klingon ship, and they cost the same amount! This is the Adam West Batmobile, and its made by Mattel and it actually is made to accomodate 6" Batman and Robin figures!Toysrus had the eclusive with the Batmobile and has also been sold in their stores, if you can find one that has them in stock. Ebay is the place to find them mostly. The figures can be found at Entertainment Earth and Walmart and probably other places. its hard to believe its taken about 47 years to get figures from the 60's show.

Hey VF, did you see that Mattel is making a die-cast version of that bat-mobile? Its double the price. http://www.bigbadtoy...017&mode=retail

I didnt know about it until just now. Looks to be $100.00 more than the one i have, and by the pictures there the only thing i see different is an opening hood and motor. I am sure there will be some metal in the diecast version, but weighing only 3.5 pounds there must be a lot of plastic in it too. It doesnt say anything about lights or sounds, which i think for $159.00 there should be there. I dont like the NON removable Batman and Robin either. What caught my eye to the one i bought is that you can put figures in or out and pose them. One thing that i really like is vehicles and playsets with my figures. Thats what made me so fond of the Playmates Star Trek figures. I think for me to spend $159.00 on the hotwheels Batmobile, the parachute packs and Batphone better really work!

I think the next Star Trek SDCC exclusive should be the glow in the dark, non electronic USS Defiant from TOS. that would be really cool and something I'd want to see (but not own)

They have that already in model form. But one could get a DST HD Enterprise online and then get some glow in the dark paint and airbrush it on. ;)

A  half transluscent Defiant...that glows in the dark would be a KILLER Variant...like the AFX BOP style but a lighter green

DS9 Defiant, if we get one, could be a cool "semi-cloaked" variant.  Maybe bluish.

I don't believe we have done any con exclusive Marvel Select figures besides She-Hulk. Julia Carpenter Spider-Woman was a case variant, and Arachne was, I think, a retailer exclusive?

Anyway, I'd love to do a glowing ship, but anything that required different sounds might be a problem. Is the TOS Defiant structurally different from the Enterprise?

No the Defiant is exactly the same ship...just a different Registry number and name is Different. I think that would be a KILLER variant...as long as there were more than 200 of them! hahah....

A lights and sounds TOS Defiant could use voice clips from Enterprise's "In a Mirror, Darkly."

Make them limited to 1764 which is the Defiant's registry number and I think you would have a winner.

FYI, VF, that die-cast Batmobile is not the same scale. The Hot Wheels Elite cars are 1:18 scale, smaller than the DST cars, around 3.75" scale. It's about a foot long, and I believe it's mostly metal. It's like a big, highly detailed Matchbox car. I don't believe it has electronics in it, but it might.
