Thanks for the head's up dude. I'm sure everyone here would press the try-me button in the shop to be sure, but it's information like that, that makes this forum invaluable for me.

Thanks for the heads up. I had a similar issue with DST and Toys R us online when purchasing the Super Pursuit Mode Knight Rider vehicle. They sent the regular KITT. Apparently they have the same sku and box with only the sound sticker being different.

And I can see someone in the warehouse pulling the wrong ship, but we've been offering the Chang BoP in that new packaging since we did the second production run, so nobody here is confused. Not sure where you found that picture, but I remember getting a misnamed image and internationally NOT using it. I certainly didn't think it ever ran on the site.

The SPM KITT issue was apparently on toysrus.com's end, they initially didn't realize that the Toys R" Us cases contained both versions. But I believe that matter had been resolved.

Oh yeah. That I am sure of. I talked to several people at TRU. All idiots. I eventually took it back to the store and the guy at the returns counter did not believe me when I tried to explain what happened. He even went as far as to open the regular KITT to try and find a button to make the SPM parts pop out. Lol. I finally got him to give me my money back from the online purchase and drove to another location and lucked into finding one SPM left on the shelf.

In the Playmates days, I would call in to ask if they had anything new. I asked to know which Star TREK toys they had, and the floor person told me about the little green guy, or the gold robot!!

FYI, we changed the packaging between the first and second production runs of the Chang BoP because the big, flat packaging, while impressive, was a nightmare to ship. It was an awkward size, it didn't fit in any boxes that weren't made especially for it, and it was prone to damage. The new shape is much easier to ship.

The new shape is much easier to ship.
And easier to confuse with the HMS Bounty

Well, they were probably made at exactly the same time, which is why we were so motivated to modify the packaging dimensions. We weren't about to fix the packaging for the Bounty, then pack the Changs in the same old unwieldy packaging just for continuity's sake. So if we had kept the flat packaging for the Chang BoP, we would have kept it for the Bounty as well.
But by your argument, every version of any Excelsior-class ship is easy to confuse with the other. So is every version of the Constitution Class, every version of the Sovereign class, etc. At a quick glance, sure, you couldn't tell which ship it was, but the stickers clearly indicate what is inside.
Mistakes happen. A warehouse worker in a hurry might have pulled from the wrong pallet, or a previous worker might have replaced an item on the wrong pallet, but most likely it was NOT due to mistaking one item for another. I've gotten the wrong requisitioned product shipped to me on occasion, but those are clearly code errors, and not sight errors, because I'll get a comic book instead of a toy. I've never gotten the wrong version of a Trek ship, and while I can't speak for retailers getting incorrect items, as someone who reads every customer service e-mail, I have never seen another report of anyone else getting one, either.

Received the BOP from ST IV.
This is probably the most humorous DST Ship I have ever bought.
The Sound Chip is classic and fits the movie very well.
The repackaging looks like it was meant to protect the wings...a very wise move.
Amazed that the Landing Gear did Support the ship.
BBTS delivers with a well protected shipping box.
Win Win....and a "Double Dumbass on You!"
Great job by DST.

six weeks later: I FINALLY have my Bounty !!
and it has exceeded all expectations.
WOW what a great sculpt and paintjob - looks screen used.
This is truly DST's most versatile ship - so many different display options.
Yes, my landing gear is glued together crooked and not all that convincing-looking up close (and the screws do NOTHING to help this - what are they for ???), but while landed, there is so much goodness to partake that it draws attention away from the crooked landing gear
BRAVO DST ! !!
I would probably explode if I got a K'Tinga (or many variant K'Tingas) with this level of detail.
