Not to derail everything...but I think Intergalactic Trading Co. may still be around... I know they still go by that name on eBay. I just bought something from them the other day...

LOL - I meant that they were mentioned and/or pictured on the back of the card, not that they were mounted on card backs.

As for Galoob, the vehicles were the nicest part of the line. Scaled nicely to the figures and nicely detailed for a toy of the era and of that size. Even the die-cast Enterprise was pretty nice.
The phaser was the worst part of the line. Designed to be more of a flashlight than a role-play toy and it wasn't even that great of a flashlight. I don't remember the sound being accurate either.
The figures weren't too bad. They could have used more articulation, but the sculpts were nice. The only real problem I have with them are the accessories. The phaser should have been separate and the tricorder should have been better designed, without the carry strap. The closed fist of the weak side hands weren't a great idea either. The lack of other accessories was quite noticeable, but with the closed fist choice of accessories would have been limited anyway.

Oh man I loved the phaser toy as a kid! I thought the light and sound were actually very cool. But there was one thing that REALLY bothered me about it...
the sticker that said "Star Trek: The Next Generation" on it!!! Even as a kid of 7 years old I knew that was dumb. I was sad that Playmates never made a version of the "cricket" phaser though as I thought it was fun.

Playmates did make a cricket phaser. It was even more oversized than the Galoob. It was, however, the right shape, unlike the Galoob version.

They are very well sculpted figures, the likenesses are very good too. The articulation wasn't great, but if season 5 versions came out with the same artic but no fixed phaser, I'd buy them in a shot and be very pleased!

Wow, I never realized! Too bad about it being even more over-sized. Huh. I guess there was so much coming out towards the end, and my only source of what was coming out was really what I saw in stores and the occasional mention in a magazine. I didn't realize they had made a Laser Pistol from The Cage until I saw it on Ebay not long ago.
