I was wondering what the difference between the original seasonal DVD sets and the thin packs are. Is the difference strictly in the packaging or are the DVD's themselves different (i.e. better menues, more extras, etc.)

Does anyone own one of these two versions? If so, which ones would you recommend buying?

If I could do it again, I'd love to get them all in the thin packaging so they all look the same, cause all of my seasons except season 9 and soon to be season 10 are the thick ones. The slim ones probably have less art on the boxes cause it's 5 discs in 3 cases where as the old ones were 5 DVD cases for the 5 DVDs.

From my understanding, menues, extras, etc they are the same. The difference is strictly in the packaging but even the front of the box is the same on both. I'm not sure about the cover art of each case though. As Nighthawk said "probably have less art on the boxes cause it's 5 discs in 3 cases where as the old ones were 5 DVD cases for the 5 DVDs. "

If I had to do it over again I would pick up the slim packs. Just because they are a space saver and would match with SG1 Season 9 and 10 and the SGA packs.

Love the thin packs. Don't know if they are different though.

Thanks for all your input guys...I found out they're going to do a complete SERIES SG-1 collection, so I'm probably going to start saving up for that instead (release is Nov. I think). Of course it's like $299 or something, but the mat looks like it works out to $30 a season.
